Q: can i use it on black fabric

it can leave a white powdery residue so may show on black fabric

Q: Can this be used to baste quilts together rather than using spray adhesive? Just wondering if it is supple enough when fused.

I use a spray to baste my quilts. I have never tried using this, sorry.

Q: What is the use by date? I.e how long does it last ?

I think it last for ever since it is dried. Only a little is needed to make it stick. If you apply too much the fabric will be too stiff and hard to sew in

Q: Will this work on chiffon I have a small hole near the hem of my jumpsuit

I wouldn’t want to use it in something as fine and delicate as chiffon. You have to iron it at a high heat in order to melt the glue!
