I haven't had a battery operated impact wrench before. I've only used pneumatic ones, but right now I don't have a compressor or room for one. So I decided to try out a battery powered impact gun.I didn't expect much, I always expected that you needed a big compressor to do that BRRRT thing. But I was pretty surprised when I tried zapping the lug nuts off one of my cars that had been sitting up for a while, and as far as I know, hadn't had the wheels off in over 5 years. It got 4 out of 5 on the first try, and the 5th one with a few seconds longer.I'm not even certain where my breaker bar is right now, or my socket for those lugs. (This wrench came with impact sockets!) And even if I had found my breaker bar, it would have taken minutes to break all those lugs and then hand wrench them off. Not less than a SINGLE minute. With no sweat.It seems like next time I put a lag bolt into wood beam, like when I build a deck this summer, I should use the impact gun as well, not my cordless screwdriver. I didn't know that the hammer hits the chuck radially, I thought it was top down, like a hammer drill. That's why it's able to zap off rusted lug nuts so easily. And that's why it'll thump those lag bolts into a beam quickly, without wrenching your wrist off.I might try replacing my cordless screwdriver for a month or so with this. Being spring, lots of projects that need fastening, and this is a bit more compact than my screwdriver, fits my belt easier, and it seems faster too. I never had that option with a pneumatic driver.
