Zhiyun's lights are as good as their tripods
Zhiyun is best known for their gimbals--or as the category is called 'stabilization equipment'. They've recently expanded into lighting and are putting out some high quality lights at highly reasonable price points. My first experience with Zhiyun lights was the Fiveray line, namely the stick form factor Fiveray F100 and the powerful pocket sized M40. I'm not exactly sure how long the Fiveray line has been on the market but I got the F100 in Summer 2022 and the smaller M40 in late Fall/early winter 2022. I've used these two lights more than any since then. Now they're releasing some new products that are actually more interesting than the Fiveray line. The new range is called the Molus line which as of now offers two COB lights--the smaller form factor G60 and this item, the more full featured Molus X100.If you like a nice mix of form and function this light will be right up your alley. The product blurb on the Zhiyun website says that it is a 'perfect balance between fashion and utility'. It has what they describe as a 'sophisticated and vintage style' that I'd be more likely to describe as 'retro modern'. I've even heard some people refer to it as 'steampunk looking'. It has all of the modern technology but with a decidedly retro vibe. Even more impressive--even with the unique design the light is extremely portable at 385 grams or just over 3/4 pound (13.5 oz to be exact). They've done some serious wizardry with the cooling system. In theory, a small powerful light should get pretty hot. Instead, the X100 cooling system keeps everything nice and cool. The light itself also does the job with a 2700k to 6500k color temp range and easily adjustable brightness. There's even a mesh mode which allows you to control multiple lights from a smartphone app. I'm still figuring out all of the functionalities of this light but it's a good one. Highly recommended!

Portable and powerful
This is my 3rd unit. I got them for use in my Photo Booth business due to their portability and flexibility in different situations but I found myself using them for almost any application. The future of lighting has got to be portability. I would love to see how far they would take this. They are super bright for the size with great quality light. You can’t go wrong with these lights for almost any use.

bright but need better power option
This light is super bright but it is powered by a short USB-C cable. I wish there is a better power option for the light. The USB-C cable is too short for any real world work. The battery option is great, but it costs almost half the price of the light and you're limited to 60 percent of its power. You won't be able to use the whole 100W of the light's capability with the battery.

Design Warning
Caution, Fire! Must be used under the guidance of Professionals! Do not touch! The first thing you're going to notice about this light is that it comes wrapped and covered with warning labels. Every side had warning sticker. It is so pervasive that it is hard not to be worried about this thing. I decided that I'm a professional so I carried on with my testing. This light is small, bright, and a bit weird. Functionality wise it is very impressive. It puts out a ridiculous amount of light relative to its size. Its build quality is good. It feels sturdier than it looks in pictures. I think it has one big design flaw. It only has 1/4 threading on the bottom to mount it. It hinders where you can mount it. To put it on a light stand you'll need to have stands with 1/4 screw top. Attaching it this way, you can't tilt and angle it. To gain that control you need some sort of adapter like in my photo. Now, there is bundle version of this light that comes with a bowens mount adapter that had a normal stand mount and also tilts. My recommendation is to buy the accessory bundle version. The accessories add a lot of versatility. It is an amazing light, but remember you must be a professional.

What a versatile light.
The media could not be loaded. Like I said in my review of their G60 kit, after 30 years of commercial photography, you get a bit jaded and aren't impressed easily. This light does impress me. It has three ways to power it, making it ideal for studio or location. They cleverly designed the heat sink on this to dissipate a lot of heat and also keep a small form factor. Now, this is the bare bones kit, so if this is your first purchase of a Zhiyun light, definitely consider at least a kit with the Bowens/light stand adapter, and even one with the battery. They've done a great job with the Bowens adapter so you can apply this to heavier duty modifiers, and Bowens have been around so long, there are tons of cheap used modifiers around. I really really love this light, what it's capable of and what it represents. Great job. The only really odd thing (see video) is the direction of the dials on this particular model, but that's more of a very minor annoyance than anything.*A word about my Vine reviews. As we have to pay federal and state income tax on the retail value of our Vine program items and they cannot be returned, I am very selective about what I review and do a lot of research and comparison before hitting the select button. As a result, I’m happy with the majority of my Vine selections. However, I have been disappointed and have given a number of two and three star reviews. My star rating and comments are true to my actual experience. I really enjoy reviewing items and pointing out things that possibly others missed or a potential purchaser might not think of prior to buying.*

No case, no battery, no joy
The light is compact and the build quality seems nice. But honestly for the money that the single late charges you can get a complete set up of two RGB panel lights with stands and a case. I think they sell the battery for those that uses a proprietary one for another $150. The light isn’t all that bad but considering you get nothing else with it it’s absurdly expensive.
