Good starting place.
It's not a great guitar but it's a really good starting place. It's made with all the right stuff to become a serious instrument. It has a solid Sapele (African Mahogany) wood body and a solid spruce top. That's the quality material of very expensive units, but the strings are primitive and painful to both fingers and ears. Also, the truss rod on mine needed to be snugged up to stop the neck from a slight concave bow after tightening the strings. Fortunately, the tool was included. I only snugged it up with 1/4 to 1/2 a turn with the strings loose. This was made with quality wood and craftsmanship and after I get the ox-bone nut and bridge saddle, along with high quality strings, it may just be a great guitar for 1/4 the price.Update: OK, take it to a pro! This is how my project turned out. The glued in black plastic nut (picture shows white bone) was trouble, a safety razor blade was needed on both sides and a surgeons scalpel underneath (Exacto or Craft knife will do), a small amount of wood stuck to the bottom of the nut and came out of neck so light sanding of groove was needed and about .020" shim under the bone nut and the strings lowered to a "sweet" light action. The black plastic (picture shows white bone) saddle was easy and pulled right out. With bone nut and saddle, and "light" 80/20 bronze strings, along with the solid wood body, this guitar became absolutely amazing. It BOOMS!Update 2: Still a great beginner guitar if set-up with quality bone saddle, nut, and strings. Although, 2 things have come to light. First, on closer examination of back and sides, it looks like the wood grain runs different directions inside and outside. So it appears to me to be laminated mahogany, not necessarily a bad thing. Solid wood back and sides on expensive units require humidity controlled storage so the grain doesn't split and my guitar is very resonate. But I feel misled that it was advertised as "solid wood." Second, the nut is not wide enough (41-42mm) for a man with large hands, but maybe perfect for smaller hands.

Perfect for beginners
This guitar is pretty good. It's definitely not a top end guitar but for a beginner this is pretty great. It has a good sound and great design. I haven't play in several years but picked the guitar up and tuned and played pretty quickly. The tuner is different then others I have used and took me a minute to figure out. It does the job though. The gig bad is pretty good quality for the price you pay. When I was tuning this right out of the package the second string broke and I had to replace a string before I could play. My package also had a couple things missing. The capo and picks were not in the package any where. I didn't feel like sending the whole package back just get those two things. But other the. That I like this guitar. It's great for the price and would definitely work for a beginner adult or teen.

This is a good beginner’s guitar for its price
This is a good beginner’s guitar for its price. For a solid wood guitar, I think they could have used better quality strings. The 5th, lowest string, seems loose even after it's been tuned. I plan on learning how to change the strings through YouTube tutorials. Perhaps, I will update this review after the strings have been replaced to see if that will improve the overall sound of this guitar.*****UPDATE*****This has become my favorite guitar to play after putting D'addario phosphor bronze light strings on them. I actually prefer to play the compared to a Seagull S6. Imagine that! The tone that comes from it is just so warm it makes you want to keep playing it.
