SMARTMAX - Mega Ball Run

Lots of pieces to play with. Great idea getting pieces to stick together using magnetism. 2 like colours oppose, but you can then use them together with a ball inbetween. Slightly tricky getting the tubes to fit together, bit of a knack and the kids don't seem to manage it that by themselves, but they (3-9yrs) happily make creations using the magnetic rods and balls. Disappointed by the structural stability of using the balls to build bits together, it keeps on collapsing to one side as the rods slide around the ball and even the suggested builds aren't that stable. The balls aren't that reliable at staying on the slide, dependant upon the speed at which they hit it. You also have to be careful assembling the tubes so that you don't have to disassemble the structure if you've put the tubes the wrong way round. The lack of stability, even using a rod as a diagonal to try to strengthen a square is the main limiting factor in making this an otherwise great imaginative toy. And the youngest wants to use to box as a spaceship and now won't let me tidy it away back into the box!

I was under the impression there was a guide with suggested construction configurations for the little ones to follow. Fortunately Grandad had a field day! Given the price this is a serious omission.

None of the pieces fit together. Very frustrating for children and for the adults to calm them down again afterwards. Not much thought went into making it. Way too overpriced for the little enjoyment that it gives the kids. Impossible to build what is on the photos and for it to actually withstand a ball run!
