The perfect pick me up for a down day
Tomahawk, from it’s description, is a rather simple town. People are just folks, cousins are kin, and hi-tech means you drive a speedboat instead of a fishing boat. Lilah and her two brothers are Wild Ones. There are four families of Wild Ones on each corner of the lake in Tomahawk. The Wild Ones are exactly like their moniker, pretty dang wild. They are not allowed at the same party unless it’s a wedding or a funeral of one of the wild ones. Truly, I can’t remember all the rules, but if there are two families at the same party there’s either a fight or something blows up.For the past nine years, all of the men of Tomahawk have been bearded because of a bet and all of the ladies are just grossed out. You’d think if you weren’t getting any action because your beard got in the way I wouldn’t think a bet would be a strong enough reason to keep it, but these men are stubborn! Lila’s best friend Benson (also bearded) has been a constant for the last three years. Even though on drunken nights he gets kind of handsy, they never cross that line. When the beard rule gets broken and Benson trims down, Lilah is wishing for that line to be crossed, and soon! This novel was absolutely hysterical! It had such a fun sense of humor and plenty of tension between Lilah and Benson. I loved how he was just hers, and she was his, even though they had never crossed that friendly line. He was just waiting for his chance. If you are looking for a kind of crazy, fun romance buy this book. I bought it awhile ago on my sister’s recommendation but sat on it. I wish I hadn’t! It’s the perfect pick me up for a down day, a great summer vacation novel, and really just the right book for any mood you may be in. I’ve already purchased the second…

Why did I wait so long!
Oh my gosh, this was so freaking good!!! I swear there were times I was laughing so hard I just about peed myself! This book was recommended to me a loooong time ago and for one reason or another I put it off until I never thought about it again. When it popped up on a Goodreads challenge, I dusted it off and I am literally kicking myself for being the one reader who hasn’t experienced the Wild Ones! From the very first pages, this book captured me, made me smile, made me laugh and at times had me tearing up – I love when families come together. Those are all the signs of an amazing read! It’s difficult to explain this book so I’ll start by saying that you’ll want to meet the wacky citizens of Tomahawk. They do things their own way which often skirts the edge of the law and completely bypasses acceptable behavior. This is Lilah and Benson’s story and holy heck did I love everything about them. A friends-to-lovers trope can be tricky and I did worry about this losing some of its charm the further into the relationship it went, but I worried for nothing. Both the hero and heroine are with no one else once they become friends and even if it took some time for them to recognize what they wanted, and already had, their behavior was proof to everyone around them that they were together.”That, my darling niece, is real love. It’s not always going to slap you in the face, though that kind is amazing too. I would know. But sometimes, it burns you so subtly, that you don’t realize you’re boiling until it’s too late. The water just too a while to heat up with you, kiddo.”Of course, Lilah, being Lilah, has her own thoughts on the issue of being in love:”And if I’m in love with Benson, then my life is going to suck even more. Because it hurts to love someone you want to shoot a little.”While we only have a little bit of Benson’s point of view, there was never a question of how he felt or that he was exactly what Lilah needed. He found her crazy to be part of her charm – if a Wild One could have charm – and he displayed enough jealous, possessive moments to make my heart sing.Lilah, on the other hand, let her freak flag fly free, dead chipmunk and all. She’s discombobulated about her changing feelings for Benson so she deals with it like a normal Vincent would.”I’m being ridiculous. I can’t stop being his friend even if he does get a girlfriend. I’ll just have to make her life hell – simple task for a girl like me – until she’s gone.There. Plan made. Problem solved.”With all the chaos and pandemonium that exist in their corner of Tomahawk, a girl, even a Wild One, has to learn quickly how to handle any given situation. Lilah was more than capable of taking care of unruly business when required, which was often.“Killian is tapping a bat’s end into his palm, and Hale is propped up on a shotgun.‘I’ll give you one minute to get back to your cabin. One minute before I grab the BB gun. Then I’ll have no mercy,” I warn them.’”This is a lightning fast read with extremely low angst. We do have a bit of drama and this couple have an issue they have to deal with. But when you’ve got a Wild One as your significant other, it takes more than just talking things through.”There’s only one way to win back the heart of a Wild One. You have to prove you’re crazy enough to deserve it.”Despite an epilogue that only gives us a few weeks look into the future, it was hilarious, it was heartwarming and it was perfect. More so when the Author’s note at the end promised so much more to come from this wacky world of Wild Ones. There will be no delay in reading the rest of this series!

“You have to be crazy as hell if you think you can hand with the Wild Ones. It’s rare we ever do anything the easy way.”Becoming a Vincent by C.M. Owens can only be described as pure genius! Book one in her new series this book will have you laughing out loud at nearly every other sentence.“You’re crazy will never beat our crazy, because we’re competitive.”Lilah Vincent loves her crazy life. Living in Tomahawk next door to her 2 brothers she couldn’t ask for much more. Except for when they break her bed. Or nail all her panties to her porch. Then she would be happier if she could just kill them. During these times she seeks refuge with her best friend, Benson.“His lips etch up in a smirk – and panties all over Tomahawk explode in the distance.”Benson Nolans has been in love with his best friend Lilah for a year. He hasn’t been sure how to approach the concept with her. That is until he wakes up one morning with her straddling him. Knowing her can’t just be friends with her he decides that now is the time, now she is ready, for him to confess how he really feels.“‘She’s beautiful, smart, independent, and she’s honest…….You two are welcome to remove my hands from her,’ Benson taunts.”Add one crazy girlfriend, two even crazier brothers, an interfering Aunt and a couple of secrets and you know this book if going to be fantastic. I couldn’t have put this book down even if I had wanted to, despite half the time I couldn’t read through my tears from laughing so much. This is clearly the start of another outstanding series by C.M. Owens and is already set to become one of my all time favourites.

This is one seriously funny book from the minute I started reading this I knew it was different from the other books that I have read by this author. This is a friends to lovers romance but it’s one exciting ride.Lilah Vincent is from the small town of Tomahawk where things are a little more unusual than your normal town. As one of the designated wild ones she is from one of the four corners of the wild side. Lilah is one of the Vincent triplets and has no intention of ever leaving her home town and spends her time fending off her brothers and settling the score with them with some very unconventional and different ways. She usually ends up seeking refuge at her best friends Benson’s house but after her last act of revenge she knows that she is going to need somewhere to stay than longer than a night, her feelings and the lines that they have between them start to blur especially once the great beard challenge ends she finally gets to see the man behind the mask. She worried that she could lose the friendship that she holds so dear but knows that her feelings can no longer be denied. She’s fallen for her best friend who is still a mystery and keeping secrets. Will she be able to trust him with her heart or will he break it?Benson moved to Tomahawk six years ago and never regretted moving to the crazy town especially after he and Lilah Vincent became friends, he has been fighting his feelings for her for 3 years but knows that he needs to make a move or one day he will lose her for good to someone else. He finally has his chance with the woman of his dreams but with his family coming to visit he knows that he will have to tell her why he moved to Tomahawk but he leaves one secret out. Can he get Lilah to forgive him or has he really lost the only girl he ever really loved?Recommended read for anyone who needs a giggle and a light read.

So enjoyable!!!
Ok so I wasn’t so sure about this book but the more I read, the more I loved it! It’s best friends to lovers which I usually hate but CM sold it in a way that made me so happy that I was rooting for them from the start! No, there isn’t any real serious depth to this book but it’s such a laugh and these characters were beyond entertaining! It was amazing to read a book where you could feel invested without your soul dying first. Saying that, I was defo invested!!It’s slightly distorted reality but I’ll tell you now, I want to move to Tomahawk like it’s no ones business! The sexy times weren’t as super detailed but I found I liked that! I dint always have to know every detail ALL THE TIME!!! It gets boring so this was a great change of pace for me!Jumping into book 2 now!!This is my honest and unbiased review.

I read it in one sitting
A fairly quick and light read but filled with comedic moments and very enjoyable. C M Owens has a relaxed, assured writing style and this book was no exception. I loved the main characters, the premise of the story and the location and the fact most of the action was set outdoors rather than in nightclubs or expensive restaurants. Benson and Lilah were well matched in age and outlook and their closeness as friends made the story better than a straightforward romance. It did remind me a lot of another book I read a year or so ago Two Cabins, One Lake: An Alaskan Romance , a series you may want to read if you liked Becoming a Vincent. There is a lot of potential for other books in C M Owens' Wild One series given the number of inhabitants and the four corners of Wild. There was a good ratio of comedy to romance and they didn't fall into bed the first time they set eyes on each other, another plus for me. My favourite C M Owens' books are the Sterling Shore series, but I loved this one and I'm already wondering when the next in the Wild series will be available for pre-purchase. I have read a couple of her MC books, but I don't like violence and dark stories, but they are really popular with other readers. I'm not in paranormal so I haven't read any of those series either, but if you are new to C M Owens I'd definitely recommend checking out some of her other books. Two Cabins, One Lake: An Alaskan Romance

Light hearted
This was a light hearted romance comedy. Well written - I love her writing as ST Abby but this is the first book I’ve read under her CM Owen pen name. She writes very well. The only bit that got a bit old was the bit about wild ones - it was repeated so much that it lost its charm and got a bit contrived. I hope there’s not so much ‘wild ones thing wild ones that, oh wild ones are so wild’ in the next books
