Men's Washed Duck Bartlett Jacket

This Carhartt Bartlett Jacket is everything I was hoping for. The washed duck material is tough and durable while still being comfortable from day one. It provides excellent warmth without feeling bulky, and the fit allows plenty of room for layering during colder weather. The quality is outstanding, with strong stitching, sturdy zippers, and the dependable craftsmanship Carhartt is known for. Whether I'm working outdoors, running errands, or spending time outside in cooler temperatures, this jacket keeps me comfortable and protected. It looks great, feels durable, and is clearly built to last for years. If you're looking for a rugged, reliable jacket that combines comfort, warmth, and durability, this is an excellent choice.

Thirty years ago I bought a simple 2-pocket, front zipper canvas no-sleeve vest by Carhartt. It was made in Vietnam. That vest has no tears, no zipper problem, and the Sherpa fleece is intact. That Carhartt experience plus recommendation from family encouraged me to buy a new jacket by Carhartt. In the Pacific NW, I spend plenty of time outdoors, more doing yard work and auto or home repair than for play. Finding this jacket online took me at least an hour, but it was time well spent! My priorities were quality of materials and quality fabrication, with functionality and style tied for second place. This jacket hit all the Yes buttons. It fits perfectly, feels and looks extremely well made, and it has pockets galore, with great fasteners. The zipper is heavy duty! I expect the jacket to last thirty years. People who rarely praise my apparel say this Carhartt looks really great on me. It should, since it IS great. I agree with others who say the fit is just slightly big. Mine is 3XL, and has enough slack so I could wear a sweater between shirt and jacket on subfreezing days. It has wrist cuffs that are unseen while being worn, but keep the wind from blowing up a sleeve. The only tiny flaw for me is that the hood, though very comfortable, isn't detachable. It warms my head, neck and ears well. My personal preference is the ability to not always have the bulk of a hood behind me. This in no way would discourage me from buying a second jacket, nor does it discourage me from giving a strong buy recommendation. BTW, this jacket was made in Indonesia. Packaging was a generous 2-stars. My purchase was crammed in a thin walled carton, which bulged from the pressure. I opened the box with a very sharp knife. Had I not been very deliberate and cautious, I could have cut the jacket. If I could give the jacket six stars I would!

My guy was absolutely stoked with this jacket I got him for his birthday. The fit was absolutely spot on and I’m so thankful for other reviews, which helped me decide on the perfect size for him. He has an athletic build in the chest with larger biceps, he’s 6’1, 225 pounds and I purchased him the large-tall. The chest fits perfectly. The arm length is perfect, and the overall length of the jacket is perfect for his height. I’m so glad I didn’t go with the regular because I think it would’ve been a little too short for the 6’1 height. The screen color is fantastic and he absolutely loved the color choice that I picked for him! He loves all the pockets and the rugged but more worn softer feel of the jacket material/texture. He has Carhartt overalls and the material of the overalls is much stiffer in comparison so we both really love the softness and slightly worn feel of the jacket. The inside is so soft and quite warm and perfect for winter here in Georgia. He can wear this out for a date night and for work! This jacket is going to last him many many many years and even as it ages, it will have more character! Similar to other reviews, we will state that the zipper needs some serious work by Carhartt. They really need to rethink this particular jacket zipper as it’s really hard to zipper up quickly. Despite the zipper being a con, the rest of the jacket is so fantastic that we are keeping us at five stars!

Bought this jacket for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift. He loves it and wears it almost daily to work in the cold. He loves that it is thick, and warm, without feeling bulky. It has a lot of pockets for all the things he needs at work (garage door installs). He said the hood is also useful, as his last Carhartt did not have a hood. I’ve machined washed it many times. It hasn’t shrunk for color faded. I do not, however, dry it in the dryer. I allow it to air dry and then put it in the dryer on fluff - no heat. He got a size XL - Tall. He’s 6’3” (long waisted & long armed build), 200lbs. Fits him perfectly. He says it’s very comfortable!!

Usage Update - First snowfalls and cold temps of Winter '25-'26 I got this coat (I don't think "jacket" does it justice) towards the tail end of Winter '24 - '25, so I'm putting it through its paces this Winter. First off, this garment rates a "2" on Carhartt's 1 to 4 Warmth Rating Scale. Don't let that scare you off. I am really curious about their warmer rated outerwear, because this coat is pretty decently warm alone, and layering underneath significantly improves it. I layered an Amazon Essentials lightweight puffer coat underneath, and was comfortable shoveling snow in 19 F weather. The elbow pleats and shoulder gussets make maneuvering snow removal tools easier. The choice of buttons and or the zipper is a plus. I button it when I'm driving, keeping the lower couple buttons open. In windy weather, I zip and button it. And I really love the hood, because it's on the smallish side, cradles my noggin in sherpa, and doesn't feel like I'm wearing a pillow case over my head. If you have a larger sized head, and use the hood, this may be this garment's main negative for you. Me, I couldn't be happier with this coat. Here's my original review: I've been eyeballing Carhartt gear for some time, and I finally went ahead and got this Carhartt Utility (aka Bartlett) jacket. Really nice. I think they thought this out well, and nailed making it look stylish while still keeping it a genuine work coat. I just had to get the 'Moss' color but I couldn't find that color in a regular medium, so after reading many of the reviews, I took a chance and ordered the medium tall. I'm about 5'10"ish, around 160lbs and the medium tall actually fits my torso quite well. Not a crazy amount of extra material, and yet enough room to accommodate a low profile puffer vest when needed. The drop hem in back goes just a little past my butt, so as someone else mentioned here, the medium tall drapes the backside like a parka, which is going to be appreciated on cold, gusty days here in MI. The sleeves are where I really notice the difference between 'medium' and 'medium tall' - I have slender arms, and so the cuffs on the medium tall do extend over my hands a bit more than I'm used to, but again, I'd rather have them a bit longer than shorter. Other reviewers had remarked that the hand pockets were shallow, but I can comfortably fit my medium/large hands inside them, even wearing some medium thickness gloves. I really like the hood. As others mentioned it's not humongous, and sits well on the back of the coat. I don't have a very large noggin, and the hood covers my head nicely - I will actually use it! It's got the must-have zippered inner pocket, and I like that the velcroed pocket on the opposite side isn't too fiddly. Some folks also commented about the zipper not being robust enough. Yes, it could be bigger (and had a double pull, while we're wishing), but I don't think it's unreasonably small. For short jaunts I'll probably be relying on the snaps more. What makes it a true work coat? Triple stitching at all of the stress points, pleats at flex points on the shoulders and elbows, and reinforced cuffs. Certainly not an inexpensive piece of outerwear, but as Daddy always told me, 'you get what you pay for', and it will probably outlast me. :)

This is a GREAT jacket. Very good material, nice lining, color is great. Nice and warm, but not bulky. Worn alot and no signs of wear and tear from shovelling snow. But how can you go wrong with a Carhartt jacket? I like the material, it doesn't make any "swishing" sound when you move your arms. I actually sprayed scotchguard on the outermaterial to repel water, I don't know if it was necesary, but I did. Has to walk from station to office and the wind did not go through the material. Doesnt have to wear a heavy sweatshirt underneath to keep warm. Good length, just below his belt. Not too high, not too low. Best present to give hubby ! Great price.

I’m 5’10” 215-220 lbs and the xl fits pretty good. A little extra room but that’s ok in case I wanna layer. Fast delivery, only took like 3 days. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is cuz of the hood. It’s stiff and hits the back of my neck but that could just be a breaking in issue. Haven’t worn it yet cuz it’s still too warm out but it feels like it’s gonna be a very warm and rugged coat for the winter.

I am a female who hates womens' clothing - flimsy, pinchy, no pockets, inconsistent sizing - and since I'm not blessed with curves, mens' clothing fits me better, anyway. I wear 32/32 mens' pants, and ordered the XL, because I didn't want it to be tight over a sweater/hoodie. In retrospect, the Large would have been better, but I love it and could potentially gain a bunch of weight, so I'm keeping it. I haven't owned a winter coat since 2014, when I moved away from Ohio. However, I lost some of my "natural insulation," so my hoodie doesn't cut it anymore, even living in Georgia. This coat is HEAVY. It will probably pull the command-strip coathook down, but it is WARM. The lining in the arms is gathered around the wrists, and the hood is shaped so that it keeps my ears warm even when the coat isn't buttoned or zipped all the way. The side pockets are weirdly small. They keep my hands warm, but I wouldn't keep my keys in there, because the pockets are shallow enough that they could fall out. Fortunately, it has PLENTY of other pockets that zip or snap, so reserving the side pockets for cold hands is OK. It's not something I'd wear to the opera, but I don't go to the opera, so that is fine with me. Personally, I like how it looks on me, even if it is a little bit oversized. I don't think I'll have to buy another winter coat for a long, long time, and that is delightful.

DO NOT hesitate to buy this jacket…..it’s literally worth every single penny….it’s just perfect .

Superb Jacket - my first Carhartt and a great experience wearing it. I've been looking for a coat for a long time and struggled to find something that was warm and not a ski jacket. This thing is rugged - I imagine it will take some abuse and the more it wears the better it will look, it's that type of material. it's also very heavy, like a weighted blanket which makes you feel very snug when you put it on. I got a small and at 12 stone and 6ft with athletic build this is perfect for me.

This is a great jacket. Build quality is great and will last for years. It’s got a nice warmth to it that will be perfect for most of the winter where I live. The freedom of movement with the arms/back is fantastic and makes it super comfy and functional. I was concerned about sizing when I ordered but in my opinion it’s a true to size for a regular/relaxed fit. I wear medium to large for other brands and a medium here is perfect.

High quality jacket that feels cosy and warm and should last a good few years. I was tempted to buy a size smaller than the recommendation based on a couple of reviews, but this was a mistake. It's much easier to do the zip up if it's not too tight against your body. So I swapped it out for the recommended size, based on my previous Carhartt purchases, and that was a good relaxed fit.
