Q: How long is the strap? Needed for a slim boat ladder. Old strap was about 6-8in and fit perfect.

There are 3 choices, with the smallest being 18”. We send extra length so it will fit on many ladders. All you have to do is cut off the excess and then using a lighter to melt the end. You will quickly be able to get it to your perfect length.

Q: What is the best way to place the screw-in stud thru the webbing? Drill first or simply screw thru the webbing?

That is a very good question. First your hole should already be drilled so you are not putting a drill bit through it. When I pin webbing to a surface with a screw and finish washer I pin it down with my fingers and push with hard steady pressure so the screw cuts cleanly and quickly through the webbing. The better you pin it, the cleaner the desired results.

Q: Is this just a strap with the button end of a snap installed and the other end of the snap supplied to be install as needed?

It is webbing with a cap and socket in it. Also included is a screw and finish washer, plus a screw in snap stud. The same as to a boat cover would have where the cap and socket are in the cloth and the screw stud is in the fiberglass. It gives you a couple of different options for securing the strap to the application.
