Drawing Geometry: A Primer of Basic Forms for Artists, Designers and Architects

This is one of the good and easy to follow books. I simply understand it and certainly like to keep it at hand! I like to use it to make mandalas, or use it for shapes in paintings. Highly recommended.

decent book focuses on the practical construction of geometric forms rather than the mathematics behind it, just make sure you have a compasses and ruler at hand.

Great book. Lots of instructions on how to draw different shapes using just a ruler and a compass, both inside a circle and on a line. Really invaluable if you want to be able to draw perfect mandalas.

It's clearly written, with simple diagrams that are easy to follow. It's highly recommended if you're into this subject.

A bit more info on compasses and explanation of how to use attachments would have been helpful to me, but otherwise good book for starting out.

I am a retired Boeing Technical Illustrator/Artist, and found the designs quite well illustrated, and explained. I never knew how to make anything larger than an 8 sided figure. This book outlines the planning and layouts of up to 13 sided figures! The designs are works of art in themselves, and how a person can come up with a pentagram from a hexagon, was fantastic! Jon even has an illustration containing all the shapes from three sided to ten sided in one circle radiating from the same bottom base line. And for the Mathmatical Geometry junkies out there, there are from page 65 to 84, rough freehand geometric calculations using scientific notations i.e. Sin, CoSin, Tan, and Square roots to probe the accuracy and construction of each drawing! WOW! Soooo...If you are not totally right handed, and could never fully figure out what all that jargon means, the front of the book has it drawn out in very Artistic left handed, and right brained, accuracy! I highly recommend this book to anybody willing to stretch the inner workings of both his/her left and right brained capabilities!

It's like alchemy with a pencil and a piece of paper and this book serves it up in spades. It often puzzles me that there was so many brilliant, intelligent and often wise people as far back as 2500 years ago and today there are so many halfwits. Get this book and a geometry set and sit out back on a sunny day. Togas or Tunics are optional.....

I have just bought the book in Kindle format. It is actually a poorly scanned version of the original paper version. The pages are cut in half and not oriented properly for a normal reading (90 degrees off). It is virtually unusable. It’s a shame that what is probably a good book be sold in such a poor layout.
