Perfect tool for soil samples. High quality, good looking finish, very strong and durable.

Overall, this soil probe gets the job done and feels sturdy enough for regular use. Mine did arrive missing one of the sample bags, but it wasn’t a big issue for me since I didn’t plan on using them anyway. The main downside is that it can be a bit difficult to get the soil out of the probe after taking a sample. I do wish it came with some kind of cleaning tool or ejector to make that process easier. Aside from that, it works as expected and is a useful tool if you’re doing soil testing.

Works great, quality made

Assembly of the sample probe was a snap and it turned out to be quite sturdy. It was just the right size and was easy to use during our sampling process in mostly clayey sandy loam soil. It should last a long, long time.

I used this for a MySoil test kit and it worked like a charm. The end cap doesn’t fit as well as I’d like but the tool makes up for any deficiency there.

This is way better than using a shovel to sample a yard. It is not easy to insert in heavy clay soil, but push and turn and it will extract a nice core sample. You can see, I made my own ejector by grinding the flats off a 1/2" bolt head. Again, in heavy clay, you need something to eject the plug. I know the 16" one can be purchased with an ejector, but I simply do not need a 16" probe. I am sampling just 4-6" and this fit my needs. If you go too deep and shove stuff up into the top, it can also be hard to get out. I ground a hook or spoon on the other end of the bolt to accomplish this. A probe is the recommended method of sampling by my state's extension service.

I am a Master Gardener and help people collect soil samples. This soil probe is a great help for collecting samples as it digs cores at the depth for accurate soil testing. Stainless steel construction, sharp cutter, durable, and easy to use (even tolerates a bang or two with a rubber mallet when cutting cores into hard-packed soil).

This soil probe is very sturdy. I used it to plant tulip bulbs. I'd sometimes have to insert the probe twice for larger bulbs.
