Good Book
The book is great. Just throw out the casing it comes with. It’s a hardback and it looks way better that way. Great for gifts or home library :)

Watch out, it's not the original book!
I was very disappointed to find out this is a children's tamed down version of the original book. I did not see anything stating that fact when I bought the download. The cover did look different, but I thought that was due it being an ebook not the real thing. I feel ripped off.

The backstory you never learned in history class. Be careful to buy the correct version!
This is a fascinating look at the unbelievable political intrigue of the Magellan voyage. From who got what position in the crew (based on political connections,) to the razor-sharp delineation of the world into the "Spanish half" and the "Portuguese half," to the multiple mutiny attempts, it leaves you wondering how Magellan got as far as he did. The only negative is that the writing style is simplistic. Only after reading the book and turning to the acknowledgements did I see his explanation that this is a YA version based on a book he wrote for adults. It would have been nice if there were a reference to YA on the jacket or in the introduction.

The FULL EDITION is a superb book, but BEWARE — it has been published in two different editions
The condensed, “younger reader”, edition is about 220 pages . The original, full edition is about 410 pages.
