Outstanding machine. I had the old (original) machine and it worked well for 16 years. It finally died, so we rented the new one and it worked even better that the original machine, so we bought one. It pulls more of the water out than the old one did. It cleans better. And the handle is higher, making it easier on the back. Easier to fill and empty also. Strongly recommend this machine!

I have rented these Rug Dr. units forever and have owned light duty home units that seem to work for 10 or so uses. Thought I would love a commercial unit at home. It came looking almost as if it had been used. Fluid in tank and some dirt, but I forged ahead. Filled tank, plugged in and everything seemed to work except no fluid came out. Looked at troubleshooting guide and mostly it dealt with dirt from use or they thought their customers were morons... (plugged in? Pushing button? etc.) Called customer service, not open on the weekends. Looked at YouTube and got advice on priming the pump. On 4th try, that worked but I was over two hours working on this and we are getting ready for a wedding and didn't have time to waste. Rug Doctor, spend the extra 35 cents with your Chinese motor maker and buy the self-priming pump! Did two rooms and on the third, the beater bar quit running. Thought it was the belt or something keeping the bar from rotating. Nope, motor for beater bar seems to be inoperative. Two problems on first use with what is supposed to be a Commerical quality machine is two problems too many. I will rent from now on or hire a carpet cleaner. I think it looks to be heavy and looks to be Commercial quality but I think it is a cheaply-made imitation. Extremely disappointed and I buy a lot of things from Amazon and have returned hardly any. Maybe Amazon ought to not sell this particular product or anything from Rug Doctor.

I used it 4 times. I looked around for local repair shops before the 1 yr warranty expired. I decided to troubleshoot it. Water pressure pump failed. I figured out the Chinese made pump 1/4” spade connector was too thin. Contacts arced. Causing pump failure. Ordered new part and crimped mating contector for solid contact. Mfgr defect. Otherwise it works great. I check other connectors and adjusted contacts and bought a spare pump motor.

Ok, where to start.... great suction. I'm not sure the makers actually use it. Hear me out: You can't tell if water is getting sucked up into the thing. Most cleaners have some sort of clear plastic to allow you to view the water getting sucked up into it. It is sort of satisfying to see. In fact, I love seeing it. It shows that it is working. Not this one. Lame. The dirty water and clean water tanks are made of darker plastic, so they always look dirty. Lame. The Dirty water tank drain is in the middle of the tank (WHY???), so you have to swish it around to get the water out of the middle of the tank. What a horrible design. Not at the top, bottom or side.. yep, in the middle. What kind of clown designed that? To clean it out (don't leave dirty water in your dirty water tank), you have to pour water into it and swish it around, but the design is poor, so you will inevitably pour water onto the sink or floor attempting it. Hard to explain, but you will. Again, the beast does work, but it doesn't feel as like it does because of the design. You can't see it sucking up water. All-in-all, I would buy the Green or Red one's that are comparable that you can buy elsewhere that you can also rent as well. You know the ones. Rug Doctor can change my mind, but the people who make them need to start using them to understand the issues.

We were worried that we bought a lemon as it didn't work on our 1st attempt at using it. We followed the directions and had it filled with hot water and solution. It just wouldn't spray and water. After some back n forth with it and calling the useless customer service it finally decided to work. With that in mind moving this machine around is a chore as its very heavy.
