This was the least expensive turtle C stand I'd ever seen so I pulled the trigger and bought one. It looks like a normal C but the construction is cheap. The legs were all loose where they connect to the center column but when you tighten the hex screws, they locked up so the legs wouldn't open. After messing with it for 15 min, I was able to adjust the stand so it was fairly sturdy but the C part of the stand is pretty bad. The center column is decent. This stand would be good in a home studio but not for location work. This thing will fall apart under heavy use. For a little more money, best stay with Kupo, Matthews, or Avenger.

I picked one of these up second hand. The washer that's inside the bottom of the base is poorly welded. Literally none of the weld was stuck to the sleeve, just the washer. Without that washer welded in place the spring, nut and bolt that keeps tension on the legs drops out. Since I have a welder and I didn't pay retail I'm not bothered. But I wouldn't want to be stuck with one I couldn't fix. With that washer properly welded they're very sturdy.
