Great basic Xbox Live communicator headset for low price
I think these headphones are a great deal if your looking for a basic Xbox Live communicator headset. The price was surprising, being that there was the Xbox 360 logo on the headset. The other cheaper headphones I've purchased for my Xbox Live didn't even have the Xbox 360 logo on them. there is a volume button on these to turn up or down your microphone that works really well. This headset adjusts to different head sizes easily without making a cheap plastic cracking or popping sound as you bend them. I can say that I'm definitely glad that I purchased these, because I was just wanting a basic headset just to chat with my friends while online with Xbox Live or playing games with others online. Some day I'm planning on getting an audio headset where I can hear all the gameplay sounds and music and be able to chat online, but that's not anytime real soon, and I'm sure these headphone will hang in there until then.

You will not get the newer, inline volume adjustor model shown in the picture.
I ordered this as a replacement for the headset my cats decided to snack on. The product page has pictures showing both the old model with the collar that has the volume knob and mute switch, as well as the newer model, with the collarless 3.5mm jack and in-line volume adjustor and mute switch. I needed the newer model as the old one will not plug into the MS chatpad. I ended up getting the collared version. The product description should specifically note that you WILL GET THE OLDER MODEL, NOT THE NEWER COLLAR-LESS IN LINE VOLUME ADJUSTOR MODEL. Just a helpful heads up if that's important to you. Most people won't have any problems, but if you use a chatpad, look elsewhere.

I'm pleased with it
I've had this headset for over a month and so far, I'm pleased with it. This is a vital thing to have if you want communication. I don't think it's the best option out there for quality & durability but for me, it was certainly the best option since I wanted the cheapest priced headset I could find. All I needed was clear communication with my friends. If your'e looking for in-game sounds including footsteps, etc, this is not the headset for you. This is meant to be plugged into your Xbox 360 controller for communication so it doesn't offer sounds from your TV.The mic is decent, and my friends have said that they can hear me loud & clear. It is adjustable to where you can wear it on your right or left side. The only downside is that it doesn't rotate fully 360 degrees, it only rotates a little over 90 degrees to either side. For me, this is a bit of a problem since I'm used to having the mic a little under my mouth. Also, it's not that long & it barely reaches the side of my mouth. At first, I had to kind of adjust the mic or just talk louder since it wasn't always picking up my voice because it's not all that adjustable and it doesn't reach all the way to my mouth. However, after a while, I got more used to it and I don't really have to pull the mic closer to me anymore. A really good thing so far is that this headset hasn't made any "buzzing" sounds that my friends hear. As opposed to previous headsets where they would often make a buzzing sound and my voice would cut off for my friends, this headset has no problems. The headband is adjustable to comfort smaller or bigger sized heads. The cord is decently long and has quite a nice feature at the end. It has a mute switch and a volume control, which I like since it's pretty much right below your controller and you don't have to reach on the cord somewhere to try to mute your mic. I like that design definitely and would give it a plus just for that feature. The speaker is decent, not too quiet nor to loud for me. The speaker is semi-adjustable to one side. The build quality is pretty much a "you get what you pay for" type of thing. It is mostly made of plastic but what can you expect right? I like the headset overall for its simplicity since all I need is something that lets me talk and communicate and something where I can clearly hear my friends and other players. For this price point, I'd recommend it to anyone who is just looking for a working headset that lets you talk and hear. As long as your'e careful with it, you shouldn't end up breaking it as some other reviewers have said. This is a great headset for it's price and I wouldn't get anything at a higher price point since I don't need anything more than what this offers.

simple and effective
i chose this headset for the simple use of communicating with friends while gaming. at 7$ with shipping it works as well as can be expected. sometimes the chatter cuts out from my side and his but you just have to kinda speak clearly and then there isn't much of a problem. if your looking for a cheap and easy way to chat with friends while playing halo hear ya go. If you can afford it though go for a higher priced or better named headset like turtle beach

Would Be Totally Awesome...If It Worked Longer Than Six Months
Having a headset for online play will ALWAYS enhance your game play. Whether you're playing with a great team and need to be able to communicate with them in order to more effectively beat the other team's butt or you're stuck with a horrible team and want nothing more than talk smack to them the entire time, headsets make online play much more enjoyable. So I gave this item 5 stars for it's fun aspect. It is hard, however, to have fun with an item when it's broken, as is almost guaranteed to be the case with this item after six months. The one that came with my 360 broke after about six months of use. I figured it was a fluke, so I bought two more. One of them has already broken. I'm waiting for the next one to join the first in headset heaven (or hell, depending on how much you hate these things) soon. So in conclusion: get a headset, just don't get this one.

like I have with previous headsets of the same style
Exactly what I was looking for cheap headset less than $10 and this came exactly as described. Haven't heard any buzzing when bumping the base of the cord, like I have with previous headsets of the same style. This headset was exceptionally loud, i'm used to turning the volume to full volume to be able to hear people, I started with full volume on this one and was not expecting to need to turn it down some.I will update review if I have any issues in the near future.

It is a genuine Microsoft brand.
It has the microsoft sticker to prove its genuine. My only problem with the actual product is the speaker for listening to other people is definitely not all that great. I had its volume at max and it still sounded pretty bad. As for the microphone, i have no clue as to how good that is.I guess its worth the money as it properly functions.I am basically using it till I can afford a better one.
