An essential book for anything FinOps (cloud cost management)
I have been doing large-scale cloud cost management for the past 10 years, and cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a true "bible" of FinOps essential for anyone starting with the practice or thinking to deepen their knowledge. Now with the release of the Second Edition, it is definitely the most up-to-date and comprehensive material on the topic. To elaborate more:Managing cloud costs is critical for businesses to optimize their cloud investments and achieve their financial goals. As the cloud grows in complexity and scale, so do the challenges of cloud cost management. This is where the book 'Cloud FinOps: Collaborative, Real-Time Cloud Financial Management' by J.R. Storment and Mike Fuller comes in. This book provides valuable insights and practical strategies for managing cloud costs and achieving financial success in the cloud. One of the key takeaways from the book is the importance of collaboration between different teams in the organization to achieve effective cloud cost management. As the authors state,'Cloud financial management is an organizational challenge that requires cross-functional teams and processes. Success requires a strong partnership between finance, engineering, and business teams.'If you're looking to optimize your cloud investments and achieve financial success in the cloud, I highly recommend reading 'Cloud FinOps' and adopting the practices and principles of cloud cost management outlined in the book.

Cloud FinOps is a critical new cloud management discipline
We're able to launch distributed applications on cloud resources faster than ever, but the inevitable need to control the efficiency of your application rears its ugly head. Enter Cloud FinOps the ability to understand utility billing offered by the public clouds and use a variety of techniques to analyze your environment, apply many types of discount optimizations for usage and rates, and ultimately drive your margins up and your cost of goods sold down.I've been involved in varieties of FinOps activities for over 20 years, and this is the definitive book for learning about the ways which individually and across organizations we can make an impact through observing our workloads, understanding and automating recommendations to make them perform better while lower cost. Although it's not authoring, deploying, or testing code, it has the capability to ensure that your company can weather tough times and conserve hard-earned capital to innovate new projects. This book lays out the blueprint for how to start from a place where you have no visibility or control over cloud spending to operating a distributed chargeback model focused on driving the deepest discounts while allowing developers to still operate and innovate at scale.
