I originally awarded this set 2 stars because, much to my surprise, there is no sourdough starter in the Sourdough Starter Kit. Very annoyed. However after using this set for 2 months, making about 8 loafs, I am glad I bought the Set. The tools are very useful and the recipe for sourdough is a great place to start. Everything is well made and all are utilitarian. The Dutch dough mixer helps enormously, the lame (for scoring the bread before baking) is easy to use and I like the extra razor blades. I use the Teflon transfer sling for moving the proofed dough to my Dutch oven and for baking the bread, preventing burning on the bottom and easy removal after baking. The Banneton keeps the proofing dough shaped and safe during the rest in the refrigerator overnight. Separately the items would add up to significantly more than the set. Get this if you want a head-start on you baking career. Half a Star off for no starter culture. I bought mine on Amazon. Baking sourdough is Zen and this set is worth every penny.

Great product

I've been toying with the idea of baking sourdough for months, but it always felt intimidating. This kit gave me the confidence and the tools to finally dive in – and I'm so glad I did! The banneton basket is sturdy and beautifully made. It gives my dough the perfect shape and those signature flour rings that make the loaf look like it came from a bakery. I was surprised at how much that little touch boosted my confidence. The Danish dough whisk is surprisingly effective – I never knew mixing could be this easy (or less messy). The lame is sharp and easy to handle, and made scoring my loaf much more precise compared to using a kitchen knife. What really stood out was how this kit felt like it was designed for people like me – someone who's just starting out but wants to do it right. It even comes with a little guide to help you understand what each tool is for. A few things to note: Make sure to dust the liner well to prevent sticking the first few times. The dough scraper is flexible, which is good, but you might want a sturdier one later on as you get more serious. The cleaning brush is great but small – not a big deal, just something to be aware of. After using this kit, my sourdough game has gone from zero to “who wants fresh bread this weekend?” in just a few tries. If you’re on the fence, this kit makes it easy to get started. Highly recommended for anyone ready to level up their home baking.
