Green Bay 2.7M Round Garden Parasol Umbrella Outdoor Sun Shade for Patio/Beach/Pool Umbrellas with Winding Crank and 38mm Tilt Pole - Black

I bought this and within 4 weeks the up and down winding mechanism broke. The parasol was stuck in the open position. During the time i was liaising with the buyer we had some windy weather and consequently the parasol blew over and snapped. The seller said that because the parasol was left outside in windy weather they were not replacing or refunding! I dont know anyone who has room in their house to store a 3m open parasol (certainly not me) we couldnt store it in our outdoor shed either due to the parasol being stuck open. The seller thought they were doing the right thing by offering me to buy the same parasol at a reduced price of £40! I am trying to contact amazon customer services to try and get a replacement or refund because this would never have happened if the parasol had not broken after 4 weeks of light usage. Very unprofessional, sub-standard, money grabbing company with appalling customer services. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID if you want a decent parasol fit for purpose and if it breaks then throw your money in the bin.

Sitting under the parasol right now, it looks great and seems sturdy. Setting it up was easy and now looking forward to a summer BBQ, or whatever else we are able to do in the middle of this Covid-19 lockdown. At least this will cheer us all up a bit, perhaps we will even be allowed to enjoy it with friends one day.

2019: Very pleased with this parasol. It's robust, easy to assemble/disassemble, and easy to operate. Nice quality fabric, which withstood a torrential downpour and kept everything bone dry underneath. Excellent - recommended.UPDATE JUNE 2020: This parasol is not UV stabilised. Last summer was awful, and the parasol mainly remained closed. It was put away for winter, and I've just got it out again. The outer folds where the closed parasol was exposed to the sun are bleached light grey, while the inner folds remain black. So it looks striped - not a good look! I've removed two stars from my original review. You'd think UV stabilisation would be a basic requirement for a parasol, wouldn't you?

I am quite pleased with this product. Initially it was as I expected regarding size, design and colour. The wind up mechanism is so easy to use.The disappointment I have is that within a very short time of being left outside the exposed top side changed colour from pine green to olive green. The interior underside has not changed. So my word of warning would be to those wishing to purchase this product in green to consider winding it down after use and even better bring it indoors to protect the colour from fading/changing.

Very well made, sturdy parasol, it fits easily through the centre hole in my patio dining table and looks really good with an exceptionally wide spread and easy to use

Sturdy parasol pole easy to fit instead of screw in acton there is a button which can be depressed to take the pole apart. Fabric looks sturdy and winding mechanism works smoothly. Very impressed so far. We are using the polythene bag and cardboard box to store the parasol when not in use, |I have found out, to my cost, that leaving it outside permanently can fade the fabric and it can be damaged in high winds.

The description does not make it clear that the central pole is of two part design.Worse still is the design feature that limits the joint over a very limited distance.The mechanical advantage offered to the wind acting on the parasol covering material will induce very large tensile forces within the joint mechanism.I am not confident that this design is adequate, since the pole is only aluminium.BE WARNED !!!!!!I have had the parasol up for just 2 hours, but have lost confidence in its design.I have disassembled the parasol in order to more closely examine the joint structure and upon closer inspection I have decided to return the whole assembly.Be advised that the central pole is spray painted aluminium, it is not a durable powder coated finish.The paint comes off after just a few hours use, in very mild conditions.I AM HUGELY DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE PRODUCT, BUT TO MY MIND IT MUST BE AVOIDED.Another criticism of the existing listing is that they claim the materials are Stainless, Aluminium.I assumed that the pole was stainless, for strength and the parasol ribs were aluminium for low weight.I was wrong. Both pole and ribs are just painted aluminium !!!!!This is an intentionally misleading description !!!!!Avoid this manufacturer, their prices are high end but their product is low end.Having tried to return this item I find that I need to pay the full return cost, even though I bought through Amazon.AVOID THIS VERY POOR DESIGN, probably designed by an accountant !!!

Do not buy if you plan to place this parasol outdoors in a place where there is a chance of breeze. I found it was not sturdy and I returned it. I had difficulty getting my return money back. I will avoid this MarketPlace seller in the future.
