Nice Timer that works well. Customer service is fantastic
I currently have 4 yellow RAINPOINT Wi-Fi Sprinkler Smart Water Timers installed on drip irrigation systems around my home. I recently received the new upgraded Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Smart water timer. The new timer is more compact and has a brass inlet which is a big improvement from the old plastic inlet which could easily be stripped or broken. The hub is much smaller and only about 1 3/4" x 2 1/4". The old yellow version timer uses 4 AA batteries. The new version uses 3 AAA batteries. The location of the batteries on the new unit are in the front of the timer which is more convenient. I already had the app installed so all I needed to do was update to the new version. Setup was a bit of an issue. The instructions are very basic so they were easy to follow. Unfortunately I kept getting a message to turn on my phones Bluetooth which was already on. After multiple attempts I noticed a small statement on the screen that could be clicked. I clicked on that and I was asked to allow the device to use my Bluetooth. I agreed and the Installation proceeded without any additional issues. There was no mention at all in the instructions about this settings function which will be a problem for some users as it is not very visible. Programming the device in the App is simple with the ability to choose days of the week to water and program multiple watering times per day. So far the unit seems to be working well and I am happy with the timer. I also want to add that Rainpoint is very responsive when contacted. I had one of my yellow timers malfunction. I called Rainpoint, they answered the call quickly, and they shipped me a new free unit immediately. Unfortunately I had another timer stop working and within 3 days I received a free replacement with an additional 5 year warranty. Customer service is fantastic.

It just works, well!
2024 UPDATE: I had an minor issue with my timer this spring when setting up my gardens, contacted Rainpoint support, and they fixed the issue immediately and without question. Such excellent support!! I will be sure to support this brand going forward! ---- Looking to automate the mundane task of watering my outdoor plants, I set up a simple irrigation system: 1/4in tubing, drip attachments, a 1/4in to standard hose adaptor, and this timer. It works brilliantly. Insert batteries, attach to faucet, download app, pair, set schedule, and go. It all took just a few minutes and was so easy to set up. The rainpoint app is intuitive and comes with preset watering schedules and is very customizable. It gets forecasts for your location and can adjust watering based on the weather - so you're not that person using extra water on rainy days. Perfect. A tiny "hub" is included to keep your timer persistently connected to wifi. Mine is 30 feet inside my house and connects to the main timer very well, even through a thick brick wall, and having this hub reduces the battery drain on the timer itself. Cheers to safe, smart, and responsible use of our precious water!

Super Easy to Set Up and Works Perfectly!
This RAINPOINT WiFi Sprinkler Timer is incredible! I couldnโt believe how fast and easy it was to set upโeverything worked perfectly right out of the box. I had zero issues getting it connected. The wireless transmitter is about 2 feet away on the inside of the house, and it connects with no problems at all. The app is super user-friendly, making it a breeze to schedule when the water turns on and off. I love the convenience and flexibility it gives me for managing my watering schedule! Weโre in Wisconsin, so our weather can fluctuate quite a bit, but this timer has been handling the changing temperatures like a champ. Itโs reliable, durable, and has made my life so much easier. If youโre looking for a hassle-free sprinkler timer, this is it. Highly recommendโ5 stars all the way!

Good customer service. A bit hard to connect to Alexa.
Edited update: I'm raising it by a star because I was really pleased with customer service. They were easy to reach by both email and phone. I sent a video and they tried to troubleshoot with me, it didn't work out right away but they did not give me much of a hassle to send a replacement. I still don't know why my unit was leaking, it was out of the side slot, not where it connects to the faucet. I had to threat the faulty one but I got the new one almost immediately. In the beginning, I still had a little difficulty with a leak but then I realized that was my issue because I had the hose splitter making it at a slight angle. This thing will only work without leaks if it is completely perpendicular in line with the horizon (even if you use the teflon tape, it will still leak). Once I installed it straight out of the tap and not coming off the angled splitter, the leak went entirely away (this was a different type of leak than the original problem, which had nothing to do with meโฆ There was some crack in the unit I think). It's been pretty hasslefree since then and I appreciate the customer service help. I think they're a good and reliable company. I wish I could have given this product five stars. It really works well for a simple uses through the app directly, connects fast through the gateway. There are two small problems, one is that the joints are extremely leaky... That one isn't too difficult to fix with some plumbers tape, but you do have to take care of that yourself. I wish that they would make some better gaskets for these things. Until I get more plumber's tape, I have to keep a watering can under it to catch the leak. Two, It's almost false advertising that it is easily Alexa compatible. I have over 50 smart devices in my home and most of the Alexa compatible ones have a simple signin button to link the accounts together within the app, And then all you have to do is create the skill on the Alexa app and then program your own voice commands. Not this, oo boy. It took me around the world and had me wanting to pull my hair out. First off, the instructions are TERRIBLE. It made it sound very simple but it took me 15 minutes just to realize that those instructions were just on how to set up your echo device. Why would they even waste space on that when they are a third-party app that has nothing to do with Amazon?? Most people who bought this for Alexa Compatibility already know how to set that up and have it done. I went back-and-forth between that app and the RainPoint one trying to figure out what I need to do after that and there was no clear answer. There is no RainPoint skill within Alexa, I tried connecting through Tuya's app (the parent company, I believe), and it would not find the water sprinkler controller. It was only after I read the reviews, I saw many people were struggling with connecting to Alexa but one person managed to do it and that was by disconnecting the gateway (Which I had forgotten was connected to the controller) and reconnecting both that and the "child device" to Tuya. That is the trick that did it: if you are looking for Alexa compatibility, you must connect Tuya to the Alexa app, not Rainpoint, which has no support. Tuya has a skill there and you can then create voice routines, etc. Through Tuya's app, the interface for the sprinkler controller is the same, and you can control your timers, schedulers, weather delays, etc. It all works well once you get it set up, but I'm just frustrated that they could've prevented a lot of time wasting by just explaining that in simple English (that you must use the Tuya app instead) OR update Rainpoint so it is a skill available on Amazon and truly compatible. That's the main issue that has this review at 4 stars. It's a pity because the other electronic functions of the device work well! I love that you can see the weather forecast right in the app and program rain delays so that you are not overwatering your lawn.

UPDATE - Lasted only 1 season
Updated review: I was so disappointed toward the end of last Summer when I noticed this new model failing. When I opened it up to check the batteries, moisture had crept into their compartment and they were corroded. I laid this guy up for the winter to dry out, and managed to lose the battery compartment cover, which apparently failed to function anyway, so no need to waste time cleaning up the contacts. I've changed my original 5 stars to 1 star rating because this model was definitely not designed as well as "Old Yellow" which has silicone water-seals around the battery module, inserts from below, has a flow-meter, and is back online for another season! Original review: This newer Rainpoint model BT valve and Wifi Mini-hub combo seemed much easier to install than my earlier Rainpoint (yellow) valve. (Having a separate 2.4Ghz subnetwork is still critical), yet I've seasonally installed that earlier model a couple of summers, and this new combo came up the first try. Not sure why Rainpoint dropped the internal flow-meter. I've used flow-history on my earlier model to detect unexpected changes our garden drip irrigation system. Since this newer valve went on our overhead misters, those are visible so it's OK but I'm already missing that useful feature more that I thought I would - when traveling. FYI, per Rainpoint documentation and my failed attrmpts, the old yellow valve would not pair with this new Mini-hub, so I'm running both hubs although I had to space the old and new valves further apart on a 4-port water hose manifold, or the Rainpoint app would occasionally lose the old valve. While I love the added features within the upgraded Rainpoint App, particularly the "misting" interval timer which I'm using with our 1/4" drip system to stretch the watering period, I'm still having to experiment with "Scenes" to develop a predictable drip/misting strategy for these two valves. My created rulesets appear to be altered by my changing the order of various rules, eventhough the syntax seems to be declarative. Unfortunately the app's contextual documentation is pretty overview-level. So, I'll keep experimenting in until I know what will perform as expdcted.

Easy to set up, good flow.
Works well. Not compatible with Smartthings, but their app is very well laid out and easy to set up. App also has easy to use scheduling and can monitor/delay watering when it rains. Each controller comes with a small hub that pairs to your wifi, and one hub can control several valves. Once they are paired to your wifi they can be remotely controlled from anywhere. I had an issue with the hub losing connectivity to the controllers when I first set them up but I solved it by moving the hub closer to the controllers. I have a micro irrigation system running thru the controllers I bought with a lot of sprayers on it and the valve has adequate flow, I have a 1" water supply to my irrigation so I have a lot of water available, these flow well and don't seem to be restrictive.

Solid and smart
Really pleased with this RainPoint sprinkler timer. I was pretty put off by so many negative reviews of so many devices of this type. This one seemed to stand out a bit from the rest and so far I have zero complaints. While the english in the manual isn't perfect and isn't 100% clear, I appreciated that they at least made an effort instead of relying on you to just figure out how the device and the app work. I've only run it a few times but it's been flawless in the short time I've used it. A few very minor things to be aware of. The manual describes testing the valve with the water off by pressing the button on the device itself. It says you'll hear a "click" when the valve opens and another "click" when you press to close the valve. I heard the first click when pressing the button the first time but when pressing it again to close the valve, I thought I might have a defective unit. It made a very different, very quiet sound. Almost more like a subtle internal movement that you could feel when pressing the button than hear. Definitely was nothing like a click. Anyway I turned the water on and repeated the test and it was working fine actually. The iOS app is pretty good. Some settings and options aren't in the most obvious place but if you're not afraid to tap around, it's not that big a deal. More options than I think I'll ever need. One other very small thing that wasn't clear and that I had to test to confirm is with how timing works for what they call Cycle and Soak. It's a watering mode where during a scheduled run time, the valve will open for some time and then close for some time (the latter being the "soak" period). The settings for this mode included a start time, and end time, cycle duration and soak duration. It wasn't obvious but cycle duration is only for the watering portion...not the complete cycle of water + soak. Also the soak time you set includes the watering time. So if you set a cycle duration of 5 minutes and a soak of 30 minutes, the behavior is on for 5 minutes, off for 25 minutes (not 30 minutes). Not a problem whatsoever...just wasn't obvious. Also I appreciated the spare parts in the box and the included option of a free extended warranty. I'll update this review if I run into any issues but so far I'm a very happy customer.

Best garden hose timer I've ever used?
I've used many manual and electronic timers to control my garden irrigation over the years. They never last and are cumbersome to use/set up. I've been using this one for over a year and a half, and have absolutely no complaints. The batteries last A LONG TIME. I've replaced them one time since it's been in service, and it was just a preventative measure. My timer is programmed to activate for 1hr every day. The timer was still working fine. There are no leaks and it works EVERY TIME. The app is intuitive and easy to set up. I highly recommend this timer.

Great invention
Fairly easy to install and use. Perfect solution for watering new sod remotely at a rental property. Chat GPT recommended.

Best timer
Iโve used several timer in the past and half them rather return or start leaking, this is the one that I would recommend. I like the fact that I can program it and turn it on/off remotely while am away from home. Definitely will purchase dual on in the future.
