Great value and performance for the price.
I have always been a tap water drinker so it was past time for a filter. The test reports of what these filters remove are impressive. While I believe we had good water quality to and through our home, we can never be too safe these days with the microplastics and PFOAs finding their way into everything we eat and drink. The filter install was easy enough. If you have a deep double sink, be prepared to work in a tight space as these filters are tall. This installs only on the cold side of the water supply and will limit the flow a little bit, but if you are like me, you clean your dishes with the hot side which is unaffected by this filter. You will have your original pressure on the hot side and your sprayer will work as normal. When inserting the supply lines, make sure you "bottom" the tube out into the coupler making sure you straighten the tube and line it up before inserting until it stops at the back. If you stick the tube in off angle, once the end of the tube goes past the oring it will give you a false sense that the tube is all the way in, don't be fooled. Highly recommend this filter, additionally I put one on my refrigerator supply line as well.

Wonderful product!
I installed the filter a couple of days ago along with the optional sediment filter and right away noticed a significant improvement in the quality of our drinking water. The taste and the feel of the water were just better. However, the flow slowed to a trickle. We live in a house with older plumbing and initially attributed the lower flow to the old pipes until I bothered to read the little slip of paper that came separate from the main instructions that recommends making sure that the rubber washer inside the hex nut of the cold water adapter is seated properly, otherwise it could be squashed and severely limit water flow if it is off kilter. Well, being the guy who is so mechanically inclined that I only skim installation instructions, I did not, in fact, make sure that the rubber washer was seated properly before installing the cold water adapter. It was only until I gathered up the paperwork to recycle that I noticed the extra little slip of paper that I had ignored. After I uninstalled the cold water adapter, found that the rubber washer was indeed off axis, corrected the issue and reinstalled the adapter our cold water flow was much better. Long story short, I’m very pleased with the ease of installation, the quality of the components and improvement in our water. Just make sure to fully read the instructions.

No customer support
No customer support. Purchased in 2021 and then set up auto renew on the filter with Epic directly. Credit card charged 4/14/25 but filter has never shipped (5/6/25). Impossible to call support since no one responds. An email to "support" only results in a new order number being provided. What reputable company charges your credit card before shipping?

Believe It...Very Happy
I was looking at several different under the sink water filters to run to an isolated drinking water faucet. I chose Epic Smart Shield based upon a recommendation from a friend who manages several dozen single family home rentals in Omaha, Nebraska where the municipal water quality has had severe issues. He told me that he installed Epic Filters in all of his rentals because of its outstanding certification standards, ease of installation and the fact it is made in the USA. He also said that these filters have been installed for over six months now with zero problems. This was good enough for me. I purchased the Epic and it arrived within days in quality packaging. The installation would take about 20 minutes with a modern plumbing setup (finding and staging the tools will take as long), my installation took longer due to the fact I was running it to drinking water faucet as opposed to the existing water faucet requiring some additional parts. I could not be happier with the outcome. We live in a rural area of Wisconsin and are on a well with relatively good water quality so I didn't notice much difference in the water quality. However, I have piece of mind that I'm doing all I can to protecting my family's health by ensuring they have the safest drinking and cooking water, especially for our two young children and one on the way.***UPDATE*** After having the Epic for several weeks now my wife says there is definitely a difference in the taste and mouth feel for the better (I still don't taste it but that doesn't really matter does it). Below are the parts & tools required to install the Epic to an isolated drinking faucet: Drinking Water Faucet, ~$25; Braided Stainless Flexible Water Tube, ~$8; Brass Splitter Connector, ~$7; Step Bit (for drilling into stainless steel sink), $45...Total was less than $100 half of which is the Step Bit. If you can borrow the Step Bit that would be best, it only took about 20 seconds to drill the holes through the inexpensive stainless sink.

BE SURE IT IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT (IT IS A VERY HARD RIGHT TURN WITH A SECOND CLICK)
Upon installation it leaked right away. The instructions given on how to fix the leak did not help. Using food safe grease on the o rings on top of the filter did not help. READING ANOTHER REVIEW THAT SAID TO BE SURE IT IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT (IT IS A VERY HARD RIGHT TURN, WITH A SECOND CLICK) FINALLY WORKED. They need to put this HINT in bold in the instructions! Also, once it was installed properly, it didn't seem to reduce the pressure/flow rate significantly. Once it stopped leaking we did a blind taste test between tap water, filtered pitcher water, and water run through this filter. The water from this filter came in a very close second to the filtered pitcher water. Given that this filter shouldn't need to be replaced as often, and I don't have to have (two) pitchers sitting around taking up space all the time, I think it will be worth the effort and cost. I will update in a few months.
