Good book
I learnt to embroider as a child and I usually embroider my jeans. I don't usually make a plan or drawing beforehand, and as I am now sewing a sweatshirt, I thought I should plan the embroidery on it more and this book and the patterns in it help me.,I like the embroidery on the shirt collar and now plan on doing a shirt collar thanks to this book. And, I love bluebells having grown up around them, so with this book, I can use the pattern here. The book has lots of information and I don't understand someone saying there was no guidance on how to make the stitches. You can do what girls used to do and that is make a sampler of the stitches on a piece of linen before embroidering a garment. There is information on types of cloths too.

Great for beginners and advanced-stitchers alike! High quality book that would make a great gift!
have followed Alexandra’s Etsy shop for many years and have admired their raw talent and passion for their work. I was very excited when I learned that Alexandra was writing a book and sharing their talent with the world. The first thing I noticed about this book (after getting past the gorgeous front/back photos on the hardcover) is how much care, creativity, and passion was put into its creation. While the book’s main purpose is to take the reader on a journey of creativity, this book is so much more than that. Alexandra shares about their personal connection to embroidery, and each project is introduced with a personal touch (in the form of a short story/memory of the author) related to why Alexandra decided to include that specific project in their book. The beginning of the book includes detailed “how-to” information making this book appealing to newbies and advanced stitchers alike (spans about 35 pages). Each project comes with the patterns to complete (traced from the end of the book), and step-by-step instructions (with visuals to help with colour selection/placement of floss) on creation of the specific work. While my initial motivation in purchasing this book was to explore the world of embroidery and to create, this book is a piece of artwork in itself and will appeal to those who don’t have desire to craft. "Non-crafty" individuals will enjoy the incredible photography of Alexandra’s work and calming sense that each page through well selected colour scheme and fonts. I further appreciate that there is diversity reflected in the authors choice of models. 5/5

Beautiful and informational
I’ve followed the author on Instagram for a while. To be honest, I didn’t want the book when it was first released. Embroidered clothes? Not my thing. Then I embroidered a sweatshirt. Then I saw an unfavorable review about the fabric section and I thought “I need to read this for myself”. I’m so glad I ordered! I absolutely LOVE this book! The first chapters are detailed information on fabrics, thrifted items, supplies and tools to help get better results (ex. stabilizers). I’m a well informed crafter but even I learned some things! And I didn’t see a drop of misinformation or even a spelling error. The projects are great! A wide selection of garments and even shoes! I’ve wanted to embroider shoes forever. They are a lot of botanical designs but it’s a wide range of things and not only flowers. Some have complained about the projects because they’re not step-by-step instructions on each stitch. But it’s not a beginner how-to book. There are dozens of those out there and even free examples of stitches on YouTube if you need additional help. She provides instructions indicating what part of each design to complete first as well as reminders and tips about stitch directions. If you’re a fan of her work definitely purchase this book! If you don’t know her work then get it anyway! It’s a beautiful book and quickly becoming one of my faves.
