Amazing concise but very detailed book to educate all ages. This is a hard topic to put into a nutshell in a way that both educates and motivates. As a parent of 3 teens my husband and I have had to have "the conversation" many times in many ways. I recently ran into this couples podcasts etc. and was very impressed by their perspectives so when I came across their children's book though my kids are older I decided to get the book to read and share. So glad I did! Me my husband of 18 years our 17, 16 and 13 year old sat around and read it together and we all loved it. Its a great introduction or reminder at any stage of life AND a education tool for those who don't experience life the same way. They pulled out great examples that we don't always see in history and gave a great road map for understanding how things ended up the way they are. Wonderfully done and worth every cent.

Great Book! After reading myself, I must say that it's very educational, informative, well written (not only children, but adults as well) and wonderful illustrations. I don't even have children but it was a must buy for me. Great book to add to my library for when the nieces, nephews and any other child visits. I definitely recommend purchasing. The detailed history of events would educate ANY aged individual because most are blind to the true history of events that this book captures.

Devale knocks it out of the park. My 8 year old has had a lot of questions this year that I haven’t had all the answers to. I told him that we’d learn together. Educate ourselves and carry that with us. This was a wonderful way to give him a taste of the history lessons my school system never taught me. I’m privileged to be able to pick up a book to learn about things rather than deal with them firsthand, and I’m ensuring he knows this as well and chooses to use that privilege to live and breathe the fact that the content of melanin in our skin does not dictate who we are or our self worth. All people were created equal, and it’s long overdue that the world starts acting as such. Love the presentation, love the message, love the family behind it ♥️ #deadass

I was expecting a cute kids book and got a throughly informative fact based book presented in an way to keep kids interested. Was surprised about how long the book was. Definitely don’t expect to read in one sitting. Great book overall.

Very good book written in a way children can learn about black history and begin to talk about the importance of why Black Lives Matter. It’s a great book to use to introduce the discussion around black people and racism. Schools should incorporate this into their curriculum. Good job!
