That never crossed my mind, or if I would I be able to close my screen door with the key safe in place. I never did find that out because the second problem was that I couldn’t close the key safe with a key in it. I took it on and off, multiple times, got it working with a key in it and have put it on a different door. I don’t want to fiddle with it now. It’s working and fine where it is. I am not moving it. It’s easy to set or change the combination, and except for getting it to close with a key inside, it has been easy to install/operate. I feel safer with my spare key in this quality Master Key safe. It’s very sturdy and my key is going to be accessible only to me. It’s not going to be easy for a thief to open it. I think my problems closing it were due to me, and not due to any problems with the key safe.

I've used these for both my house and a rental condo. It's easy to set and change codes when needed. Good for trusted contractors when you're not at home. It's also saved me a trip when condo tenants lock themselves out, and roommates lose or forget their keys. I was on a cruise last year and needed a neighbor to enter my condo to resolve an issue. I just texted him the code. I wasn't sold on the electronic locks installed on the door itself. If it's an older construction where the door sticks, etc., I was confident that the bolt would always retract properly. This seemed like a very inexpensive and reliable option for me.
