Product description Great Games and Accessories for the PC from Gamesbuyer. Manufacturer's Description The point 'n' click adventure game A Vampyre Story tells the tale of the beautiful, gifted opera singer Mona De Lafitte, whose life is brought to an abrupt end by a vampire baron named Shrowdy Von Kiefer. Henceforth, she is doomed to a miserable existence as a creature of the night in Von Kiefer's gloomy castle in Draxsylvania. Confronted with her seemingly hopeless fate, she decides to run away and try to fulfill her dream of singing at the Paris Opera. Accompanied by her mischievous bat Froderick, Mona must face a number of challenges in her odyssey and learn not only to accept her vampire nature, but also to use the abilities she has acquired to her advantage. In more than 50-hand draw locations, the player's task is to guide Mona through Draxsylvania and to Paris by using her powers of deduction. Along the way, Mona meets a wealth of partly endearing, partly frightening, but often just plain weird characters, including the inventor Dr. Riga Mortus, the gypsy Madame Strigoi, and Carpathia the wolfwoman.

Chapter one of a defunct game
The game is very pretty, nice graphics and ran well. The two main characters talk too much though, and Mona can come off as whiny. My biggest issue with it is that this is only the first chapter of a game that appears to have run out of funding and been scrapped. There is no chapter 2 (as of 2021). This is not mentioned in the description and only becomes obvious when the end credits roll. Deeply disappointed.

good game
The main character had a veryy annoying voice and the bat would just not keep quiet. The dialogue was also NOT FUNNY.The scenery was always pretty but the graphics for the characters could have been better. .. I had to use the cheats alot but that was because I am generally impatient , i dont think the game was difficult.over all a good game. similar to Monkey island but that was alot funnier.

Disappointed
For the price I was expecting to receive a full length game. This is nowhere near long enough to justify the price as I finished it in just two days. If I'd known this was just the first chapter of the game and not the fully finished product I would never have bought it. Nowhere in the reviews or on the box does it state this is just chapter one of three. Save your money and buy a full game from another company and not an extended demo

Fantastic Game
Same sort of controls as Monkey Island 3, so everything is done with the mouse (except for saving/opening games). The background graphics are great (actually drawn by the same guys who drew the backgrounds in monkey island games, so no surprises there). Cutscenes are a bit iffy with badly rendered 3D character models (they look much better in the normal game though, which seems the wrong way around!).Played well on a widescreen TV connected to a PC with NVIDIA onboard graphics (I'm guessing there are different versions of the graphics for varying screen aspect ratios). I ran the game in Windows 7 without any problems by the way, which is more than can be said for "So Blonde"!Voice talent is excellent, except for the Shrowdy character, who I keep expecting the say "de plane, de plane!". The dialogue is well thought out, witty, and in places so funny that you can't help but click the same things two or three times just to hear what was said again! I particularly liked the idea of saving an 'idea' of something in your inventory for the large items, rather than just picking it up, much more sensible! The only real bad thing I can say is that it's a little short, although this is just the first 'chapter' in the story, and the next one is currently being made, so I won't mark it down for that, particularly as it was so cheap for the number of evenings of enjoyment I got from it (perhaps it just seemed short because I was enjoying it so much!).A highly enjoyable game that I'd recommend to anyone who likes point and click adventure games.

So-so and so...
Okay, it's okay.Bad points:1. The voice acting is absolutely terrible. My partner came in during one of Mona's speeches and he nearly died laughing. French? I think not. Mona's annoyingly strained voice made me turn the voice off and just use the subs.2. There's nothing in it to get the heart racing. I played through it in a semi-daze. What I mean by heart racing is like in Longest Journey when pril breaks into the monster's house in the woods and you've got to make it fall into the fire. That was jokes. This isn't.3. You don't really feel for Mona. She's a whiner.4. It is not funny. The dialogue is bland and predictable. No lols here. I chuckled twice. And they were both World of Warcraft homages. However, although all the above bugs me. I still bought it, and I still play it. If anything you can trick yourself into thinking you are back int the late 80s/early 90s when adventure p&c gaming truly rocked. So buy it and have ago. It's not a waste of time, but it won't be the best time of your life -The art work is nice, and there are some fun puzzles to get your teeth into... ^^

Finally a game as brilliant as any of the old classics
For fans of the point-and-click adventure this as good as it gets. A new classic that if everything goes as planned will have (at least) 2 follow ups. This game has everything. It has a good story (about Mona de Lafitte, an aspiring Parisian opera singer who is kidnapped by the rather short vampire baron Shrowdy von Kiefer, locked inside his castle and turned into a vampire herself (something she in the beginning is in complete denial of). Now she must find a way to escape). It has a very good sense of humor (although a few less weak puns wouldn't have hurt). It has great voice acting, good graphics, and good gameplay and technical solutions. Also, and this is important to a fan of the classics by Lucas Art and Sierra, it has any number of hotspots/items that can be manipulated to get an amusing response! Wanna dump Monas bat sidekick Froderick into the lake? Stuff him into an oven? Or maybe just talk to inanimate objects? Try it - usually it won't work but you'll get a good laugh. My biggest concern? That I'll have to wait at least to november 2009until the next episode comes out. And for you prospective buyers, yes there being a next episode does mean Mona won't make it all the way to Paris in episode one but I can easily forgive the mild cliffhanger ending - it's such a great game!
