Gripping Tale of WWII
Through the eyes and life of Elodie, a young French woman, she weaves a compelling story of love across cultural barriers combined with a vivid account of the French/English resistance movement in German-occupied Normandy. The young woman falls inexplicably in love with a German soldier despite her personal misgivings. Their love story unfolds as the war intensifies and Elodies family becomes entangled in both the resistance movement and forced support of the occupying army. The book is very well written and smartly edited. The characters are both sympathetic and realistic. It was easy to hate some Germans and find reasons to root for Elodie and her German lover at the same time. I don't easily give five-star reviews, and rarely give one to a self-published book. This is an exception I am pleased to make, as the story plot line is outstanding, the characters are well developed, the writing is on a par with well-known published authors, and the book was flawlessly edited.

A great read
Whether you are a historical fiction fan, a romance fan, or both, this book is for you. A very well researched novel whose believable characters quickly immerse the reader in the difficult choices facing all those involved in an occupied country during WWII. Can't wait for the next novel from this author.

Intense sense of wartime France
Compelling sense of time and place. The story's twist and turns, of ordinary people caught up in the horror of war, and events that they cannot control, lead you on to the beautiful ending, that is touched with sadnessAn excellent, well researched read.
