EMG JH James Hetfield Signature Guitar Pickup Set, Black Chrome, EM943260

Had the EMG 81/60s before these and wasnt overly happy with them as they had a distinct electronic sound to them. Paired with the boss gt100 all distortion sounded fake and muffled. After getting the het set all i can say is wow. For active pickups they sound incredible. Distortion has an amazing crunch for both rhythm and soloing. They really are the best pickups ive used.They arent just for metallica fanboys and girls. If you arent a metallica fan (i only like the first 4 albums) please dont be put off by JHs name on the box. They do so much more than 'enter sandman'. They really are amazing for metal/ rock/ blues and the clean tone is great. Such an improvement from the 81/60s.I recorded my guitar playing the same riffs before and after the pickup switch. As soon as i played a note i knew i didnt need to do that, the difference in sound was noticeable before even listening back. Listening to the same riffs side by side, it was amazing the difference in sound quality. The clarity of the JH set is unbelievable.Theyre pricey, but worth every penny. if you plan on upgrading your EMGs, make these your first choice.

There's only one reason you'd want to buy these.To sound like Papa Het. So what you waiting for?Aside from the fact that these are a signature set they are an outstanding set of pups.They're quick-connect EMGs so a piece of cake to install.The black chrome covers look way cool.Sound great clean or saturated with distortion.Nice balance between the neck and bridge with neither going too far off into the weeds tonally.Highly recommend if you want a solid metal sound.

I put these pickups into an older Ibanez RG guitar that had seen better days. I wanted to continue to use the Ibanez since it has sentimental value and the action is super for fast soloing even when compared to my PRS Custom 22. I figured EMG active pickups in the Ibanez would have it producing great metal sounds. It is an incredibly tight fit in my Ibanez to contain the additional electronics. The kit has been well designed and if you are lucky enough to have exactly the right existing jack the installation is possible without soldering. I had to solder since the Ibanez jack is long. I also did not want to have to remove the lead to switch off the pickups, hence I purchased an additional on/off switch and installed this. The result is great chunking, crunching sounds when the volume on the guitar is cranked up. However it is possible to obtain delicate non-overdriven output with the volume turned far down. The output never cleans to the purity and delicacy of PRS Dragon II pickups, hence it should be noted that for some desired sounds these pickups are inappropriate. However for the expected sound signature these are awesome and definitely an improvement on stock EMG81s.

These pickups are the best thing i've ever heard. Metal fans, look no further. switching passive to active can be a pain in the backside but my £200 guitar now sounds like a £2000 guitar without question. I've bought many pickups in my time, ones even more expensive than this by the way but never as good as this.

Wonderful product

I bought these pickups a while back when they were on sale, and with a £30 amazon voucher I picked them up for about £60 which was a steal! I recently installed them into my Ibanez ARZ-300 and they fit like a dream (give our take some minor tinkering)! I play them through my Blackstar HT-5 and have found something very odd. After playing various songs on them on various setting I realised that they sounded very close to how Kirk's guitar sounds in Garage Inc! The pickups sounded slightly compressed but contain more bite than you can shake a stick at! I love them to bits though and if you can get them for a good price then go for them!

They sound great, best active pick ups I've heard in years and great price!
