Not just for wiring.
I'm a maker. That means I make things. A lot of very different things. Sometimes they're electrical, most of the time, they're not. But in making things, I've learned to adapt materials to what I need. And that's the story behind my love affair with this tape.In crafting, tape is often used for holding things in place, temporarily in most cases. Scotch tape works well in most of those applications. But there are times when you need something stronger, that has more adhesive power, and is heat resistant to stay in place forever.I found this tape to be extremely versatile in applying it to a myriad of situations. One was to increase the diameter of a dowel to fit into a hole more tightly. Another was to limit the movement of a joint so that it couldn't move beyond a certain point (kind of like a ligament does in the human body). I've also used it as a means of securely gluing unlike materials together. The adhesive of the tape stuck well to one surface, while i used a glue to firmly attach another material to the tape that wouldn't otherwise stick very well with any glue - even with sanding to rough up the surfaces for better adhesion.I've used electrical tape in the past, but it tends to ooze and slide around after a while. The cloth backing on this means it doesn't move at all once it's in place and overlapping the adhesive side onto the cloth. It CAN be a bit hard to find the ends, but if you've ever used el cheapo packing tape, well, you've figured out how to find the ends and start over again, or given up in frustration and started using a stable gun instead. The one application I've yet to use it on is for what it's meant to be used for. And that's why I sing its praises. As a maker, I want something versatile that can be used in multiple projects in different ways and still do a stellar job of it. One-off specialty things have their limited uses, but I ain't made of money, so I try to get materials I can use across a wide range of applications. This tape fits that bill very nicely.Definitely worth the 5 stars, and it's a permanent resident in my Crafting Materials wish list.

Great for mesh harness
Sticks well to a mesh wiring harness sleeve as well as itself. Unlike electrical tape, the wire harness tape holds tight and does not peel at back, even at the corners. I will buy again when I need more.

Used for truck electrical harness
This is a phenomenal product that I could not find at any local automotive store. So I looked on Amazon and used overnight shipping to repair my pick up trucks electrical wiring harness whose outer plastic shell that was starting to fall apart after being exposed to years of heat and weather elements. This tape saved the day, and it does feel high-quality. It is far more durable than your standard electrical tape and it’s noticeable that it can handle high temperature settings. I strongly recommend this product.

Great tape
4 stars because these are small, they look like duct tape roll size in pictures but they are half that size.

Tape worked in the engine compartment
2009 Chev Impala LTZ with 3900 V6. The black plastic or loom around the wiring system of the car had crumbled off in several places and upon inspection was brittle all over. The XFasten Wire Harness Tape was easy to put on. I had to adjust and use shorter lengths in places where the wires were crowded by other parts of the car. This is heat tap and made different than electrical tape (which will melt off in a car engine compartment) as the glue is made to stick as it gets hot (car engine). I used Alex Tech Split Wire Loom Tubing sold on Amazon in the following sizes 1 inch, ¾ inch, in separate bags and ½ 3/8 ¼ which was sold in one bag. I would suggest for a big project, like mine, to order all the above sizes. The loom was capable of going over the size below – hence I was able to put on ½ inch then tape followed by putting ¾ inch over the ½ inch and taping again as an example. There were also spots that were soft from the heat but not breaking off – I put the next size of loom over the original loom and taped over it. There were a couple of fastenings made like flex ties which had to be cut – I found a heat-resistant flex tie for 258 degrees at HD which slipped in the slot of the old tie. You Tube had some videos on how to start the loom and that was helpful. Be sure to attach the harness back to the support attachments, this is important – I had a Ford dealer who forgot to reattach the harness behind the engine on a recall– a few months later on a road trip the car went from 70 mph to 5 mph in a blink of an eye. Had to call a tow truck and the very small wire for the transmission in the harness had been burned through as it was touching the engine.
