Took several applications but works well.
I was doubtful because the stains were from multiple sources: candle wax, soot, grease etc. I thought after the first treatment it seemed better so I just kept rubbing it in and washing off. Even the stains on the vertical surfaces responded when I rubbed the solution in. Worked for me. 🙂

Great cleaner
I bought this to use on my slate hearth, which had a lot of soot and grease build up. I had tried using soap and water, but that didn’t work, this however did and with very little effort on my part. The slate hearth now looks great and you can even see the vein in the slate. Highly recommend.

It's OK...
It's OK...better than nothing but not as effective as some stove glass cleaners. It will manage light coverings of soot and grease but nothing too thick ... it was at least pretty cheap but will get relegated to the back of the cupboard to be pulled out again in an emergency only.

It actually worked
The surround on my gas fire has been marked with sooty streaks for years and I have tried a variety of ways to clean it with very minor success. I spotted this after a search for anything specific to cleaning soot and gave it a try. It took quite a lot of wiping and fiddling with kitchen towels to give it chance to work on the vertical surface, but the result is by far and away the best I have ever achieved. I just wish I had know about this sooner so I could have kept on top of the stains from the start.
