Lovely for 'crafts time'
I love Hama beads, we get them out if the kids are getting over excited & the fiddly work really calms them down. My kids are 4 & 6, so no great works of art - the small boards are best, as we get through fewer beads, and the kids don't get frustrated before they're finished.
