Great product - outstanding support from supplier
Let's face it- video and audio editing software is complex. I have been using this kind of application for many years and it can be often a case of trial and error to get it to work properly. When a piece of software does not work properly it may be you, the computer platform or the product you have just bought that is at fault. This is not an uncommon scenario. What is rare is that the company from whom you have bought a solution bends over backwards and more to ensure you get it working as quickly as possible. I bought EZCAP and connected it to my old Sony Analogue cameras. I followed all of the well-written instructions yet had a problem with the sound quality of the conversion. Within a short space of time I had a helpful and realistic set of suggestions to follow from the company and when this failed to resolve the sound volume problem a new unit was promised together with an adapter to join two phono cables together to form a single output from the analogue [mono] source. Imagine my surprise and delight when 1. the replacement arrived by express post the next day; 2. the replacement unit worked perfectly on first connect, and 3. the vendor thoughtfully provided a postage paid return for the old unit. Thank you Scott of EXCAP. You have shown me what a truly professional Internet selling business can and should be like. I promised you a good write-up and I hope this helps. To anyone seeking to convert old analogue or digital video recordings from Sony C, VHS tapes or similar, this product works. And what is even more reassuring, if there is a problem, there is someone at EZCAP called Scott who knows how to make it work. Go buy this piece of kit secure in the knowledge it will do what you want.

Mac Users Beware!
I purchased this product to use on a MacBook Pro running iOS 10.13.6. I got the audio through, but no video. A green preview screen with no image. I couldn't find any fixes online that worked. As well, after a bit more research, I found that the software bundled with it - VideoGlide - is about to become obsolete on a Mac. Mac users beware! See below from the EchoFX website:IMPORTANT NOTICE:macOS 10.14+ users will not be able to use VideoGlide. As of February, 2018, the VideoGlide software is officially deprecated. It will not work in any macOS version higher than 10.13.In the fall of 2018, Apple will be removing 32-bit application support from their upcoming macOS 10.14 system software. VideoGlide is built upon Apple's QuickTime architecture, which is itself 32-bit only. There is simply no way to make VideoGlide work in macOS 10.14 without a complete ground up rewrite.VideoGlide will only function in macOS 10.13 and earlier.USBVision will only function in Mac OS 10.8 and earlierThe seller has offered me a refund. They emailed saying, 'This is news to us. We did not know.'

Worked flawlessly on Windows 10 ... thanks to one other reviewer!
Bought this to transfer videos to computer. Had a hardware card many years ago, but now I have a laptop, I needed something USB based. This item may be 'low cost' (the hardware card years ago cost about £150) but it does the job flawlessly. I was worried it wouldn't work in Windows 10 (or even a 64bit OS) but the setup program did its thing, I plugged in the unit, and nothing. Oh. My fault - I didn't reboot when it said it wanted to, but after a reboot, the picture from my video player appeared in the software. Audio appeared too, which was a surprise given some of the other reviews. The rest of this review is split against the hardware and software. Continuing with the hardware, the unit is very small, compact and 'basic'. It has a big button on the front, incorporated into the design, but this simply takes screenshots so can be ignored. Its a shame holding this button down doesn't start a capture, or pressing it during a capture can stop it.Also frustrating is the cables on the device. Rather than plugs, these are sockets. On the back of video players, you have sockets. On the back of most SCART to audio adapters, you have sockets. You therefore either need audio plugs with plugs on both ends, or gender changers. Both are inexpensive, but after buying the 'kit', its frustrating to wait more time until 'more kit' arrives. I knew I'd need a SCART to phono converter, but didn't realise (or notice...) they were sockets on the back of the adapter. After eagerly plugging it into my video player, I dumbly tried to plug the socket into the back of a socket.... grr.Onto the software. The driver for the unit worked great in Windows 10. No issues. Installation of Arcsoft Showbiz was also flawless. Sort of. But I'll come back to that. The software is easy to use, with two tabs - capture and edit. With 'capture' you push a button and the source is recorded to MPG2. Pushing the big button on the hardware device captures a screenshot. Not that useful to me. Shame it can't start/stop the capture. This is limitation with the software, which is outside the scope of the hardware.Files are saved directly to MPG2 files, so unless you want to specifically edit them, they can be left alone. Considering the quality of the source video (some of my video tapes are quite old, so picture quality isn't that great) the output was extremely good. My previous hardware card couldn't cope well with the 'transition' between recorded programs on video (when one program ended, and the previous one continued) and audio quickly became unsynchronised. This unit has no such issues, and quite happily records a video cassette. One issue that did plague me was the dreaded 'VIDEO IS COPYRIGHT PROTECTED.VIDEO CAPTURE WILL NOT RESUME" error. Thankfully a reviewer on Amazon.com had a fix (http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R21D5Q58SHWNHS/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewpnt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003YGJLWU#R21D5Q58SHWNHS) which worked great. Would have been useful if this was contained in the notes in the box - the seller had written some 'frequently asked questions' sheet about drivers, audio problems, etc.The unit also has some LEDs hidden inside (so it creates a blue glow around the unit, rather than a specific power LED) and the unit does get a little warm (not hot, but toasty warm) - so don't cover it if it is thrown loosely on your desk...All in all, this unit is fantastic. The seller was very helpful (although signing up to the forum seems a lengthy process ... after a week my username still hasn't been authorised) and the unit works flawlessly. With some 'tweaks' (notes in the box and maybe throw in some different leads) the unit would work well 'out of the box' rather than having to buy extra kit... but it depends on what you're using the unit for, I guess.

Don't waste time with other products, this works.
Trying to set up March Hare Productions to support people with depression and mental health issues to use creative writing therapeutically and can't afford brand new stuff. I have to use an old VHS camcorder, until March Hare Productions makes some money. My Hontech 7.0 stopped working with Windows 7 and their support was hopeless, Uninstalled Honetech and bought Video-2-PC which simply restarted my computer for me whenever I tried to watch the introduction video. I was desperate and came across EZCAP. I have their device for loading old vinyl albums, oh I miss vinyl, to PC so I knew they could be trusted. Video-2-PC came in a white box with a sticker, it had a generic maxell dvd, and photocopied instruction sheets, this kit came in a company box, company dvd, still photocpied sheets, but the whole feel was more professional. Installed the software, added the device, slight problem with audio which was quickly solved with an internet search and made my first video. Very happy film-maker. Bought 2 copies and just ordered a third.
