Q: Can someone give me a link to the english manual pdf? Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no english manual download in existence. However, I was able to assemble it without any problem by paying close attention to the part #'s and excellent diagrams.

Q: does it work on batteries ? and if it does were do you have to put them ?

It required 4 D batteries. They aren't included, and they go into the base of the arm.

Q: How large is it? (diameter of the base, length of the arm segments)

The base measures approx. 7" x 7" x 7". The arm has an approx. reach of 14". The unit is well made, but comes as a kit, so be prepared to spend 2-3 hrs. assembling it. The instructions are well illustrated, but are printed in Japanese, so careful attention to the diagrams is necessary. I had no problems and the unit worked perfectly with precise articulation right from the start.
