We had a very nice butcher's block for years. But eventually my wife tired of having it occupying so much space on the counter. So, with a recent kitchen remodel, I decided to replace the block with an out-of-sight drawer option.There are a LOT of options to choose from in many different materials.What brought me to this one was both its size and its presentation.I would describe us as being at the lowest echelon of "Amateur Chef" in that we get our most sophisticated cooking recipes from one of those weekly services that provide everything but you need to cut/mix/prepare it.To this end we have invested in a couple of really nice cooking knives in addition to our bread knife and an array of paring/smaller food prep knives.So, when I say the "size" was right it's because the unit not only fit nicely in the intended drawer location (so YMMV) but it holds all of our knives with a little room left to grow.For presentation, I like the idea of my knives resting in wood and I can clearly see each of them in their entirety (size & type of blade) which allows me to pick the one I need immediately.A weakness of the butcher's block is, if your handles are somewhat similar and you're not consistent about where the knives are placed (*ahem* the wife) then you can find yourself pulling out each knife in turn until you get the one you want. Yeah, yeah, first world problems...The only caveat I would express, for those ADD types, is that we have 1 knife where the blade raises the handle enough such that it teeters a bit when the drawer is opened and closed.The wedge at the handle end of this unit is supposed to push the knives up to their hilt against the wood slots. This one knife's handle just misses that. After about 2 minutes it didn't bother me at all but I figure you *could* take one of those rubber bumpers (used to dampen your cabinet door closing - we have plenty left over from the remodel) and place it at the bottom of the wedge for that one knife if you encounter this situation. You would just designate that slot for that knife. Of course the point is moot if you don't put the knives back in a consistent slot (see above :) )..Highly recommended for someone with a relatively low profile drawer in their kitchen that is looking for a purpose and you want to organize your knives safely and out of sight.

I purchased this so that I could have more room on my countertops and get rid of my knife blocks. When I had Thanksgiving and I opened that drawer a couple of times, I got more compliments on it as people said it was really made drawers, look clean and very organized. And I do feel it does that as well as it makes more space on your countertops and I feel it safer especially if you have children. I really like it.

My DIL was so happy when she received this storage block for her knives. The bamboo block fit perfectly in her kitchen draw and fit all of her knives. The bamboo block is very strong. It arrived on time and in great condition.

It was sturdier than I excepted and the weight of it means it’s not going anywhere. I managed to fit all my knives in it, but I wish it held two more. It fit in the drawer nicely and the light bamboo color worked too.

Ein Messerblock, der irgendwo in der Küche steht, ist immer ein großer Schmutzfänger. Deshalb wollte ich meine Messer gerne in einem der Schubkästen aufbewahren. Allerdings sind normale Besteckkästen dafür ungeeignet. Ich wollte die hochwertigen Messer so aufbewahren, dass sie sich nicht gegenseitig beschädigen. Eine perfekte Lösung dafür ist dieser Messerblock als Schubladeneinsatz von Utoplike. Es ist Ordnung im Kasten, die Messer sind geschützt, man hat eine gute Übersicht und findet sofort, was man sucht. Perfekt!

Two years after purchase and I'm still very happy with the quality of the product.It's a much better product / design than the in-drawer knife block that it replaced. The small knives are contained in dedicated slots that keep them in place. 10" Chef's knives easily fit the large slots, even ones with large bolsters. Shallow design requires as little as 5/16" extra height beyond the height of the tallest knife.Highly recommended!

Sturdy, useful bamboo knife organiser for drawer. Its too long for our drawer but it can be altered/sawn at both ends to fit. Came in cardboard package and unfortunately wrapped in cellophane with moisture sachet. It is made in china - I wanted to buy something more locally made - but could not find any. Arrived in good state. Looks good - pleased with purchase - better than a knife block on top of work top.
