Great for people that want a fun science project and practice soldering!
Great for people that want a fun science project and practice soldering! Don't expect huge, wowing results, but it does work and does what it says it does. Not loud, but certainly audible. Good for the price!

It Works
The instructions are clear, and the soldering of components is well labeled and straightforward. I did not assemble the audio part, but the coil portion works as advertised. This makes a nice small science project. I am happy with its quality and outcome.

Easy build
An easy build with one critical part- soldering the tiny hair thin coil wire to the board. Be sure to carefully scrape off the coating on the wire before soldering and don't fry/break the wire while doing so. This is the third Tesla coil kit I've built- they all work. The other two kits from other sources. I use an old 16 Volt power source with a round plug that fits perfectly. On this kit I don't get the tiny spark at the exposed wire at the top but if I hold something metal close to it you will see the spark. Be careful, the cooling fins may get very hot, don't leave it on too long. I had some thermal paste from other projects and I added some between the transistors and the heat sinks for better heat transfer. The red LED is Power but it doesn't say what the blue LED is for. The 2 pin header in Step 5- for an optional fan for cooling but no other info on this- what kind of fan? Would fan voltage be determined my your input voltage or is it a set output voltage? I'd like to install one and show you how it looks/functions. I tested the 2 contacts with a multimeter while the unit was operation with my 16 volt power source. Got no reading from the 2 "fan" pins. ???? Looked on the other side of the board and it appears (I think) that only one pin is routed to something. **UPDATE: I purchased a tiny 24volt 2 pin fan and connected it to the fan contacts and used a 24 volt power source to the coil and the fan works! Now have to rig up a holder for the fan.

Mixed feelings
On one hand I enjoyed assembling the kit but after needing to buy separately a power supply i was disappointed that after powering it on it did not work as advertised. Maybe others will have better luck but for the price you shouldn't be to upset if it doesn't

Fun educational kit
This was a fun kit for my 10 year old. I was able to teach him soldering and assembling component level electronics. The instruction were easy to follow. It wasn't as loud as we wanted but my son brought it to school and his classmates and teacher were very impressed. The electrical arc was able to jump about 1inch.

Fun and educational, for the money a great value, but it is small.
While it is rather smaller than I hoped, this kit allows you to build a real, working Tesla coil. Just don't expect the same results you see in movies on the TV! It will produce a spark maybe 4 inches long. Everything you need is included in the kit, minus tools like a soldering iron. This kit was definitely a great value for the money,

Never worked - checked solder points multiple times.
Despite properly wiring this unit and triple checking my solder points, I was never able to get this product to function. Very disappointing. The instructions lack any troubleshooting details. Had it worked, it would have been of a great educational value for my young son, but it proved a waste of time. It is also incredibly small and not something I would get again - for the same price you can find much better Tesla coils.
