Q: Why is this only for boys?

It isn’t only for boys and if you really want a girly one they have a pink Dino blanket. I got one for my granddaughter and she loves it. It’s so soft

Q: What size to get for toddler 1 year old

I got the 50x60 for a 6 yr old, and it was plenty big for him. I would go smaller for a 1 year old.

I don't remember a tag, but I washed it in cold water and dried it on "low" in the dryer. It came out soft and fluffy.

Q: should this blanket be washed before first use?

I didn’t but my daughter uses it mainly to lie on the floor. It smelled ok. I’ve washed it several times and just let it air dry to keep it soft and it looks great.
