Really pleased with the Canon R6 EOS Mark II
I’m totally new to mirrorless cameras, so keep that in mind if I miss anything or don’t explain it fully. I recently purchased both the Canon EOS R6 Mark II and the newer Canon EOS R6 Mark III, and have spent the last few weeks getting familiar with them both. And here’s what I can say with complete confidence—the Mark II holds its ground far more than you might expect. On paper, the Mark III brings some nice upgrades—higher resolution, newer video capabilities, and some other refinements—but in real-world use, the Mark II delivers performance that feels remarkably close to its younger cousin. Autofocus is fast and reliable, tracking is excellent, and overall responsiveness is right there with the newer model. In many shooting scenarios, especially controlled environments or hybrid work, the difference is far less noticeable than the spec sheet might suggest. What stands out most is how balanced the Mark II is. It’s a true hybrid camera in every sense—strong stills performance, excellent video capabilities, and dependable low-light results. The camera feels to me that it’s more than enough for professional work and is a superstar for the less experienced like me. The camera handles both photography and video seamlessly, and that’s very important for my use case (YouTube videos and lots of stills!). The speed is there when you need it, the image quality is consistent, and the overall shooting experience feels refined and intuitive. Having both cameras side by side, I can honestly say the Mark II pulls very close to the same weight as the Mark III in everyday use. Unless you specifically need the newer features, you’re not sacrificing much at all—and in some cases, I would consider the Mark II to be the more practical and efficient choice. For anyone considering this camera, don’t hesitate overlook it just because a newer version exists. The Mark II is not a compromise—it’s a highly capable, robust body that performs well in a whole host of use cases and settings. I love it!!

Precision of a Jedi, Speed of a Starfighter, Power of the Force.
As a Jedi Master wielding the Force in the realm of photography, I have tested many tools, yet few resonate with the balance of power and precision like the Canon R6 Mark II. This camera is not merely a piece of technology—it is an extension of one’s vision, a conduit through which the Force of light and shadow flows effortlessly. Autofocus – Faster Than a Jedi’s Reflexes The R6 Mark II’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II operates with the speed of a lightsaber strike, locking onto subjects with near-precognitive accuracy. Whether tracking a swift-moving podracer or the subtle motion of a Jedi in deep meditation, the subject detection (including humans, animals, and vehicles) ensures that focus remains unwavering. Low Light Performance – The Dark Side Has No Hold Here Even in the dimmest of conditions, where only the faintest glow of a distant star illuminates the scene, this camera excels. The ISO range (100-102400, expandable) allows for clean images in the shadowy depths of the Outer Rim, without succumbing to the noise and grain of lesser tools. A Jedi sees in darkness—so too does the R6 Mark II. Burst Shooting – Speed of a Starfighter in Hyperspace With 40 FPS electronic shutter and 12 FPS mechanical, the R6 Mark II captures the action of high-speed chases, ensuring that not a moment is lost. This is a weapon of precision, ideal for wildlife, sports, and any mission where timing is as crucial as a well-placed lightsaber strike. Image Stabilization – The Force Keeps It Steady The 8-stop In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) ensures smooth shots even when the path ahead is turbulent. Whether wielding the RF 100-500mm, or a more compact lens, the stabilization holds firm, allowing for crisp imagery without reliance on a tripod—a necessity for a Jedi constantly on the move. 4K Video – A Holorecording of Supreme Clarity For those who wish to document the teachings of the Order, the 6K oversampled 4K60p video produces footage worthy of the Jedi Archives. Full HD 180p slow motion captures every motion with detail befitting the finest holorecordings. C-Log 3 ensures the flexibility to shape the story in post-production, much like a Jedi crafting their lightsaber. Ergonomics & Build – As Balanced as a Lightsaber The R6 Mark II’s grip and layout provide intuitive handling, ensuring that one need not divert focus from the scene to adjust settings. The weather sealing withstands harsh planetary conditions, be it the icy winds of Hoth or the humid jungles of Dagobah. The Verdict – A True Weapon of the Light The Canon R6 Mark II is a Jedi’s ally in the pursuit of photographic excellence—fast, reliable, and capable in all conditions. Whether you are an apprentice seeking your first full-frame mirrorless camera or a Master in need of a high-speed, low-light powerhouse, this is the way of the Light Side. May the Light (and sharp images) be with you.

A Camera That Grows With You
I started with the EOS R8 and eventually returned it for the R6 Mark II, and for long-term ownership, it was the right call. To be clear, the R8’s image quality is excellent — Canon’s color accuracy is spot on, skin tones look great, and in real-world results there’s little to no noticeable difference in image quality between the two. What made the decision easy was everything beyond the sensor. Battery life on the R6 Mark II is night and day better, which completely changes how enjoyable it is to shoot. The body feels durable, well-balanced, and very comfortable to handhold for long sessions. Weather sealing adds peace of mind, so I don’t worry much about light rain or dusty environments. It’s also simply more fun to use: better ergonomics, IBIS, dual card slots, and controls that feel designed for serious shooting. Wi-Fi connectivity works fine and does what it needs to do. Considering the build quality, reliability, and overall shooting experience, the R6 Mark II offers strong value for the money. The R8 is a great lightweight camera, but the R6 Mark II feels more future-proof and dependable — the kind of camera you buy once and grow with. It is more expensive than the R8 but I have no regrets on the upgrade.

Outstanding Camera
I was a bit hesitant at first to invest in the Canon R6 Mark II, but it has exceeded every expectation. The image quality is stunning, the autofocus is incredibly fast and accurate, and the low-light performance is exceptional. It feels solid in the hand, and the controls are intuitive, making it easy to use whether shooting photos or video. This camera has truly elevated the quality of my work. It handles action, portraits, and events flawlessly, and the colors are beautiful straight out of the camera.

Canon R6 Mark II: A Photographic Powerhouse with Incredible Focus Tracking
The Canon R6 Mark II is my second purchase of this incredible camera model, and I absolutely love it. As a professional photographer, I’ve used a wide range of cameras over the years, and the R6 Mark II stands out as one of the best for capturing stunning photos with ease and precision. One of the most impressive features of this camera is its focus tracking. It’s nothing short of amazing how accurately and quickly it locks onto subjects, even those in motion. Whether I’m photographing wildlife, sports, or portraits, the focus tracking never fails to deliver sharp and clear images. This capability has elevated my photography to a whole new level, allowing me to capture moments with incredible detail and clarity. The R6 Mark II also offers excellent low-light performance, thanks to its high ISO sensitivity and advanced image stabilization. I’ve been able to shoot in challenging lighting conditions without compromising image quality, which is a huge plus for anyone who loves shooting at night or indoors. Additionally, the camera’s ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold and easy to operate, even during long shooting sessions. The menu system is intuitive, and the touchscreen display is a pleasure to use. Overall, the Canon R6 Mark II has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s a reliable, high-performance camera that’s perfect for both amateur and professional photographers alike. Whether you’re upgrading from another model or looking for a powerful camera to start your photography journey, the R6 Mark II is a fantastic choice that won’t disappoint.

Worth your money!
This camera body has been a life changer for my business. The value was great and the size is perfect not too heavy. At first, I was having problems with image stablilization but after using it a while I figured it all out. The battery life is great too. I think was the best purchase I could have invested in for my business. The features are great and quality is amazing. Definitely would buy again.

This camera body has brought my photography back to life!
It’s made shooting effortless even in manual mode. The flicker setting has saved me so many times and the silent shutter has seriously come in so handy. This camera is so incredibly fast and still outputs crisp and clear images. The battery life hasn’t let me down so far and lasted for a 8 hour wedding! I plan on purchasing another battery as back up. I go to photo jobs with confidence that my equipment will do its job and do it well. It’s high quality and preforms better than any canon rebel I’ve ever owned. I highly recommend purchasing some tempered glass screen protectors and always flip the screen in while storing in your camera bag. This camera has basically paid for itself! If you are considering upgrading to mirrorless this is your sign! Oh and p.s. the canon lens adapter is only $120. So you don’t have to buy a brand new RF lens and still use this camera body with your old lenses ;)

LOVE this camera.
Coming from an old Rebel T7, this was a huuuuuuge upgrade, I did need to grab an external flash and the EF-RF adapter (get the one that has the filter insert, thank me later), but considering all the EF glass I already had, I considered it part of the investment. Apart from the full frame vs crop argument, the R6ii absolutely stomps my old T7 in like all ways EXCEPT for battery life, the T7 seemed to last for days on a full charge, the R6ii can do a few hundred photos or so and then its time for a fresh battery, that's the nature of mirrorless tho. So if you're using this to film or shoot a day long event, you might consider bringing a couple spares. The low-light sensitivity on this thing is insane, I took it to a festival and shot some night shots around 11PM - Midnight, got it home to check out what I shot in Lightroom and it looked like we were shooting at sunset, extremely impressive, plus, its ability to focus leaves the rebel in the dust, it can't even begin to compare. Is it worth the nearly $2K price? depends on your application; there are other options out there (R5ii for considerably more $ and way more resolution than the R6ii, R8 for about half the $ of the R6ii, minus IBIS and some other differences), whether or not you need/want IBIS depends on what glass you have and what/how you're shooting, but if you shoot a lot of low light like I do and want a good, professional, general purpose camera, this is the one, it can truly do it all. Love my R6ii, the only regret I (may) have is not waiting for the R6iii, but if you know Canon, who knows when it'll come out, they don't even know when it'll come out.
