Great teacher buy
Great teacher buy for early years number work. I use with numicon shapes and print out the different animals to go with them. Works well for small group interventions.

Perfect
Great maths book. Great way of looking at ‘one more’ but also talking simply about a snail having one foot! It’s been perfect for my nursery class, but can imagine being great for reception, and year one also, with its use of counting in 10s, and simple addition.

Absolutely brilliant
I teach reception and we use this at school (also in Year 1) the kids love it and it inspires them to really get their teeth into some tricky maths in a really fun way. Great for addition and subtraction and number bonds, as well as independent problem solving. If I could give this more stars I would.

fun and educational
I first heard of this book when I was writing an assignment on teaching mathematical problem solving. I came across and article about children exploring mathematical patterns and learning skills of representation. I had to buy the book. You will love it just to share with a child - but you may also want to use it as a stimulus for numeracy

Such a clever and engaging math book
This book does a great job using familiar animals (people, crabs, snails, dogs) to count out numbers from small to large, showing how the small numbers make up the big numbers. Colorful, engaging, and a bit silly, with quality math content, especially for a kid who's already into numbers (or crabs?)
