Nice Meter with Numbers That Look Like Numbers
This is only preliminary; I'll update if I see anything. I got spoiled at work with really nice (but older) gear. See, I was responsible for checking the calibration of all of our in-house test equipment and they wanted me to have at least one level better, AND it was calibrated regularly. Now that I'm just a hobbyist, it's hard to justify a $500 used meter. On the other hand, I'm restoring some vintage sound equipment and calibrating it requires more resolution than the typical hand-held 3½ digit meter. And there are times that resolution is more important than absolute accuracy, as long as it's repeatable... comparing two readings or a change in reading, things like that. This particular meter has some less expensive siblings that appear to have the same measurement circuitry. I got this one for the extra mass... less likely to fall off the bench when the leads are extended just a l-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ittle too far. (C'mon, we've all done it 😉) It also has a few extra features. I also love the display. Easy to read and quite frankly, I'm sick to death of stacked rectangle numbers. The included leads are serviceable, but not much more. I personally haven't seen any that were better than adequate included with any equipment at any price, but I don't have experience with ultra-high-end-too-expensive-for-NASA gear, either. It also comes with an RS-232 serial cable. Handy, as most folks won't have one lying around. Well, they don't have a computer with an RS-232 port, either. To be fair, most motherboards have a port on a connector; I haven't looked, but I'm sure adapters are available. I haven't checked the manual on the functionality of this. I may change my mind on this... having a printed chart showing the calibration on a piece of vintage electronic gear that was flipped might be impressive, but I currently don't have any plans. No room for a computer on my bench. Before I retired, I did check some of my personal gear against the certified ones on my bench. As far as I can tell, the accuracy of this one meets the published specs, but that's not the last word. The control syntax took all of 2½ seconds to learn. In my experience, a couple of the functions, frequency and capacitance, are never perfect on a general purpose DMM, and this one is as good as any that I've seen so far. No cooling fan... the several hours that I was using it didn't get warm, but it's winter right now. This goes for any meter. Don't trust the last digit. Between probe contact, environmental noise and rounding error, it's not going to be useful for anything other than comparison. (e.g., matching resistors.) That means that effectively it's really a 5500 count meter, but that hand-held is probably a 199, 320 or 550 count. In other words, the difference is actually more pronounced than it would appear. The lower resolution is fine for most applications. Do you really need to know that the NiMH cell in your hand has 1.2345V instead of 1.23V? On the other hand, calibrating analog electronics often does require this kind of resolution. If I see anything to change my mind, I'll update. But so far, I really like it.

Great bench meter on a budget
I tested this meter with several reference parts that I measured with a different, calibrated, high-accuracy meter and this meter was within specification. The display is good and sharp, and it functions well. The price is right so you can own a couple of these for taking simultaneous measurements.

Defaults to slow, why?
Great unit. Smaller and much lighter than I was expecting. The display is nice, the continuity is fast. Probably not as accurate on some measurements but good enough for what I do. Great unit for the price. Wish it would default to the fast mode. I don’t know why one would ever want to use slow measurements. It’s a mild annoyance, so I knocked off one star for this reason.

Speed setting makes all the difference
Another reviewer mentioned the most important thing to know: everytime you start it up, change the speed to high. If you do this, it becomes an excellent meter. If you pick the range yourself like you ought to anyway, it's even better. When I first started up, I was disappointed by how long it took to get a reasonable reading up on the screen. Multiple false starts as it autoranged and then intermediate readings before it finally settled. It was going to be useless for quick debugging. Then you switch to high speed, and it's night and day. The reading stabilizes to all 4.75 digits more or less instantly when you touch the circuit, certainly much faster than I can look up from the board. Way better than my high-end handheld. Other nice features: (a) Single current port for all ranges, instead of having to switch from a mA port to a 20A port. (b) When you switch functions, and then come back to the first function, it retains your previous range and speed settings. (c) Display very readable even at 80 degrees off perpendicular. Minor issues: (a) the high speed should be the default, (b) the probes that come with it have thick insulation that covers all but the last 1.8", and the tips are kind of blunt, not good in tight spots and useless for probing SMT. Buy something better separately.

Works fine, and nice display!
This meter is replacement for Simpson meter used on hobby desk. It failed after only 40 years of use. New meter has nice display and seems accurate for hobby electronic use. Must read offerings close when selecting the model as the slightly less expensive one was plug in power, while this one has internal rechargeable battery. Test leads pretty long so fabricated a short pair to keep clutter down on the desk, but otherwise I recommend this product.

works fine
Current and Voltage readings match my old HP 3478A meter. Battery and corded power operation is convenient. Nice, clear display.

Excellent voltmeter!
Excellent voltmeter! Instruction guide was great, and functions are easy to use. Very accurate and useful. I plan to use this to record transient current spikes (up to 10 amps).
