Amazing for shaving.
Amazing shaving stick soap. Provides great slickness. Lathers very well. Smells like an old school barbers shop, (which I love and reminiscent of my childhood). Fantastic as a travel companion as it isn’t a liquid. Better when used with a shaving brush but can be face lathered with hands in a pinch. The paper wrapping can stick to the soap when used but this is a minor complaint. Best wetted fora minute it so to soften ahead of us I have bought and used this many times and it’s in my rotation of shaving soaps. Will always buy again.

Shave with it before you dismiss it.
It's actually not bad shaving soap. It's soft enough to apply a good amount to a pre-moistened, two day beard. It lathers very well producing thick and sufficiently cohesive suds. The suds hold their form well and don't dissipate as some shaving soaps do. The razor glides cleanly and maintains the sensitivity of contact to the beard through the razor and into the fingertips inspiring the confidence that inadvertent cuts or scrapes can be avoided through improved tactility. You can feel the blade against the bristles and are able to calibrate the pressure applied based upon this tactile feedback. Some soaps or gels contain lubricants which will reduce this sense of contact and leave you reaching for the styptic pen. The scent of the soap is something I haven't experienced previously. The scent has a distinctly citrusy smell, almost like citronella. It seems strong initially but it is greatly reduced by the final rinse and moisturisation. It does have a slightly carbolic smell to it, but that isn't disagreeable as it reminds me of being a young man when we had coal tar soap at home. I used the Arko shaving soap for the first time this morning and I am pleased to report that appears to have been kind to my skin which is a touch sensitive. Despite my initial reservations about this soap based upon some of the reviews mention of the scent, I am glad I made the purchase. Yes, I recommend Arko shaving cream soap stick.

Good value, basic shave soap.
Bought to be part of a travel shaving kit. The soap is a traditional barber soap, applied directly to the face and brushed up to a lather directly on the skin - without the hassle of having to take a large shaving bowl away. The scent of the soap is best described as like a traditional hand soap. The scent is pleasant enough but other, more expensive products are far better scents (and the reason Im only giving 4 stars). It would be perfectly usable as an everyday shaving soap. It produces a good lather which allows the razor to glide very smoothly across the skin. Be aware that it is a Tallow based product so it is not suitable for vegans.

Old school stick of shaving soap. Amazing value.
Bought to try as my preferred (but more expensive) wool-fat shaving soap is sadly no longer available. This stick should last ages and the price represents amazing value. To use, peel back the foil from one end. I used a wet brush and lathered on the end of the stick rather than rubbing the stick on my face. Tip: keep the exposed end pointing down and water won't run down the stick, but back onto your brush instead. The lather I built wasn't particularly thick but did still glide well. It didn't clog the razor and dissolved well in the basin where it didn't leave sticky residue either. I might try the microwave and soap bowl trick others have suggested when I have a spare soap bowl. Smooth shave and my face didn't feel dry or sore afterwards. Scent wise I thought a hint of citronella candle. My wife thought 'laundry powder when it came loose in boxes not tabs'. Either way, old school, not unpleasant, and neither overpowering nor lingering. Did I mention amazing value for money?

Very nice shaving stick
Definitely one of the best shaving sticks about. The fragrance is beautiful so easy to use wouldn’t use anything else.

smooth shave
this is probably the cheapest shaving soap one can buy and that alone makes this a very worth while purchase, the soap is very creamy lathers well and leaves a smooth shave, found this for sale the first time i used it in turkey, been using it ever since , very good produce for the price

Brilliant and excellent value
OMG. Having tried several others I was recommended this shaving soap. It's the best thing since sliced bread and amazing price. Buy it you won't be disappointed. I removed mine from packet and press into into my mixing bowl to firm a puck. It lasts ages! Is so slippery no more shaving rash. Excellent price to. You won't be disappointed!

savon a barbe Arko

One of the best lathering soap out there and lets itself well to the artist shaver.
I bought the Arko product after seeing many reviews on how wonderful it lathers. I wasn’t disappointed. It does lather very quickly and the lather remains on your face without dissipating for the duration of your shaving. It also very slick and give your skin a good protection from the blade of the razor. It probably is the most economical shaving soap out there. You get 12 sticks of soap for under $20. This is enough shaving soap to last you many years. Also the smell is great. It reminds me of Yvory soap, but stronger. I love this smell, even now after more than 1 month of using it, I still stop by sometime, just to smell it. I find the smell wonderful. It is a soft soap. I find easier to flatten it in a big bowl so I can have plenty of space to move my brush in order to obtain a rich lather. Not unlike the small tubs you normally get when you buy shaving soap, where you can barely wiggle your brush in and end up having your lather flowing over the edge of the tiny tub. Like most people, I have and artist streak, and like the great painters who mix different colors to obtain the hues they desires, I am experimenting with my shaving equipment. Arko soap been probably one of the most basic of shaving soap, it lends itself well to such experiments. These days I am experimenting with Lanolin and essential oils. I got some raw Lanolin. This one is the closest from pure straight Lanolin without further refining. In its normal state it is very thick and sticky, much like spruce sap. If you use it as is, it will stick to you like glue and attract all king of debris. It is sold for gear lubrication but I use it as an additive for my morning shaving. I put a small dab in my shaving soap dish, about the size of a small green pea. Then when I lather my soap, the lanolin will slowly emulsify and mix with the soap. It will last you about 3 to 4 shavings before you have to add another dab to your soap. To this add 1 drop of Tea Tree essential oil and you will experience the nicest shaving you have never experienced. You skin will be smooth and I noticed some of my wrinkles are starting to slowly disappear. I only been doing this for a couple of weeks now but the results seem most amazing. May be I have accidentally discover a very good skin treatment. If you find this review helpful, please consider clicking the thumbs up. Thank you.
