One of my better buys
Was not sure whether these would be any good after reading the various reviews on Amazon and Screwfix about them, cheapest price on here by the way. As it turns out I am very impressed with these. I bought them for the bathroom ceiling so family could listen to tunes while showering etc, my bathroom is only about 3m x 3m so 2 speakers is ample in my opinion . I wired Bluetooth module into an exiting downlight junction box so Bluetooth comes on when lights are switched on and extraction unit above shower also comes on this way. Its was simple to install just mark up where you want them and drill out 2 x 74mm holes according to install instructions, The closest I had in my holesaw set was 73mm which was perfect, feed crimped speaker cables to holes plug in to terminals of speakers, push spring loaded speakers in to holes, wire Bluetooth module to lighting circuit just the 2 cables live & neutral, tuck everything away in ceiling space turn breaker back on at mains , job done,Tips -I test fitted one speaker after drilling out a 73mm hole bent up springs which are strong and pushed in to hole, what a pain to get back out as springs as so strong and in hindsight 74mm hole saw might have made easier to pull back out. Some of reviews say cant connect to amazon products, I have an amazon echo, not the dot which it says is compatible with and when trying to connect with the Bluetooth module it couldn't find it, echo is through on kitchen worktop so unplugged and plugged into a socket closer to bathroom and echo saw istar connection so if it cant find initially move closer and it will and once that's done no need to do it again, no problems with mobiles connecting. This module does not require a password for Bluetooth connection so possibilities connection wise endless.Paired up with my Samsung S7 first and played some tunes from YouTube, for small speakers sound is pretty good, after connecting with echo sound is better. So if looking for sounds while Bathing or showering etc I would personally recommend them.UPDATE- Speakers still going strong after all this time only thing the bugs me is connection sound when I turn on bathroom lights, it's so loud anyone figured how to turn this off ???

Great if you're wanting a simple and easy setup kit....
We originally had 2 of these iStar bluetooth speaker kits, one in our lounge and one in our workshop.... however the sound quality from the 2 speakers is terrible.... so we decided to get some larger speakers 6" Yamaha speakers for the lounge and some 6" Q Acoustic speakers for the workshop.... as this is using Bluetooth 4.0 and only handles 2x 15W the sound output isn't great (you'll notice some sound delays, stuttering, and audio crackling on high volumes).... sometimes we'd struggle to get the iStar connected and usually have to turn it off then on again, and again due to Bluetooth 4.0, trying to get different devices to connect can be a real pain. In the workshop however the iStar seemed to have stopped playing music after 5 minutes, then turning off / on, it would again play for about 5 minutes then stop..... eventually we got fed up with this system but struggled to find a replacement, however I've recently discovered "Bluetooth 5.0 Amp Boards" on Amazon which use a DC input (not great if you're currently using the lighting circuit that the iStar uses)... until I then found a 12V 5amp transformer (lighting circuit to DC output), combining these 2 together and we have exactly what we had before but better.... the new replacement would turn on more instantly, sounded better due to 2x 50W (although on 12V I believe we were getting 2x 30W still double what the iStar provides though) and because the new one is 5.0 you can seamlessly switch between devices (haven't yet tried audio sharing though - but in theory should be able to connect 2 of these bluetooth's to any device that supports 5.0).... also the transformer and bluetooth amp board only cost us about £25 + the cost of good speakers.Overall the iStar provides a great idea to utilise the lighting circuit to provide bluetooth controlled ceiling speakers, however there are better and much cheaper solutions out there....

poor sound
Easy to install, isn't compatible with amazon alexa. The sound is very dull and no bass , pretty similar to listing to an old cd/ portable stereo. If you are looking to wow or decent sound, two words ... don't bother

Great value and you can link your alexa echo show
I installed these in the newly refurbished bathroom, sound quality is good for its size and is more than suitable in the small space I installed them.Easy to setup very strong clips to hold them in place.

Great little product
These are brilliant little speakers. I fitted them in 20 mins in the bathroom. It’s no disco but they are loud, and sound quality is what you would expect for the price. Bluetooth also connects very quickly from when you turn the light on.
