Finally! An informative, useful book detailing answers to all those things we're usually afraid to ask about! Ellen Dugan's newest book Practical Protection Magick: Guarding & Reclaiming Your Power is easily going to become one of my favorite tools in my magickal toolbox. Ellen covers evrything you could posisbly need to know to strengthen and protect yourself in this book and she does it with a down-to-earth welcoming humor that puts even the most skittish person at ease. Need to know what your personal psychic talent is so you can become more aware of your surroundings? That's in here. Need to know if all the negativity surrounding you lately is coming from a specific source and how to effectively diffuse it? That's in here too. This book is chock full of all the knowledge you need to not only become more self aware but more capable as a magickal practitioner and more confident in your own ability to protect yourself from all the negative influences that are lurking and waiting to pounce on the more unprepared of us. This book will most definitely serve as an invaluable resource as you progress along your magickal path both as a handy reference tool and an affirmation that someone out there gets it, has been through similar situations and is ready to help you navigate safely through your magickal life.

The book is quite easy to read and follow. It is the perfect book for anyone who wishes to dive deeper into the protection magick. It contains a section for energy vampires and how to protect yourself. I used the Gargoyle section first but can recommend this book to anyone

Once I finished reading this book I wished that I had found it much sooner. There was so much helpful information on protection its almost mind boggling.I showed it to all of my friends and even read aloud some parts that I knew they had also needed help with and protections for.After reading my copy they also bought this book right away as well.They all wanted this around for a reference when every they needed it.This book is written and delivered in a fun way to read and doesn't just drone on and on but keeps you entertained and enjoying the whole thing.The author has a very plucky fun sense of humor as well. I also liked the quizzes inside to help you gage where you are at on many of the books topics so you know where you stand and what to work on or not. A great primer on protection magick! Dugan provides practical, affordable and accessible options with clear explanations for everyone from the novice to the adept!

I checked this out from the library to make sure I liked it before purchasing a copy. So many books on this topic are cheesy and almost condescending. Ellen Dugan, however, is informative, warm yet eloquent, funny, genuine, insightful and incredibly clever. After reading this and the book on Mabon, I would now buy any of her books in a heartbeat. The woman just can't miss.Ms. Dugan takes a practical approach combining personal accountability with empowerment and just the tone to help you through difficult times. It is pretty clear she intended this book to be helpful but it is practically therapeutic and is definitely hopeful and refreshing. I can't recommend it enough.

Although Dugan's book is written primarily for followers of wicca, I've determined that many of her recommendations for gaining psychic protection are practical for non-followers as well. She is a very skilled writer who captivates her readers with humorous, true-to-life stories of her personal experiences and sprinkles in suggestions for defending against psychic attackers. I loved this book, it’s my one of my many tool books when it comes to my spiritual practices. I recommend this if you’re an empathic struggling with understanding your psychic abilities.

Ellen Dugan provides simple, easy rituals for protection, all the way down to the words to use. I encourage as many people to purchase and work through all the rituals as possible, the more of us who go through these exercises, the more powerful the collective energies for protection. Totally worth the price and the effort, I am considering more than one situation which has radically improved since working through the book. I suggest actually doing the exercises, and not just reading about doing them.

This was a book that is clear in its intent and delivered admirably. I was searching for exactly what is in its pages, but the search never really ends.

Ellen is a really wonderful author! Most people stay away from this topic - either from fear or complete believe that is does exist which leave people with very little genuine information on the topic!Well this book is here to fill the gap!! It has a down to earth, practical approach to psychic self-defense without making you wary of everyone you come into contact with!!It shows you how little things can strengthen your resolve and practises - with a few tweaks to your regular magickal workings you can safely become more protected and able to fight off being drained of energy by certain people!! Very handy indeed!I love how it is a down-to-earth book and it also recommends mundane things for you do to - such as exercise to feel more confident in yourself as a confident witch is harder to drain ;)All in all 5 stars to this book and 5 stars to Ellen for writing it! Loved it and I have recommended this book a lot to fellow practioners!

I recently bought books about spiritual clearing and others of the kind, but this one is really my favourite. It explains everything you need to know about psychic protection, without getting too witchy or boogie-boosting. Much better than the Psychic Protection manual by Dion Fortune. There is something that I really apreciate in this book: no christian sonsense about demons, sorcery, hexes, but a clear help for finding out how we are involved in the circumstances we draw in our lives and how get rid of the resonance we create with negative energies.

This book is not just for witches. Everyone who wants to be spiritually stronger should use it. There are tips for everyday life and what I like especially in this book (totally disagreeing with another review) is that the main message which comes across is that: "the best protection is avoiding trouble in the first place." If you radiate light, then you will attract light.There is a lot of info on psychic and emotional vampires and how to deal with them. But apart from tips and information, as usual, it is just a pleasure to read this great author and an ethical witch.
