This is a good pot to go for if you want an enamelled cast iron cooking pot
I received my pot in 2 days of placing the order. It came carefully packed in plenty of bubble wrap which is doing service now in my greenhouse! It is a beautiful pot from a manufacturer I associate with good quality kitchenware. The finish is a polished shaded cherry red with a shiny stainless steel knob and is flawless. With a capacity of 4.5 litres this is a big pot, deeper than most .so will take a whole chicken or joint with ease. A meal for a family of 6 or several portions for the freezer. The handles are adequate and will enable you to get a good purchase on the pot with oven gloves to move it. There are nodules on the inner side of the lid which allows condensed steam to drip back into the pot and not down your arm when you lift the lid!The interior is enamelled white, I might have preferred an ivory colour. Staining over years of use is inevitable, yes even with Le Creuset pots too!At £25 this pot is tremendous value, multiply this figure by 10 and you are about the price for a Le Creuset pot of the same size. I went and looked at them in our local outlet mall. "Ah, but these are Le Creuset, these are lifetime pieces, they are handcrafted, the original cast iron enamelled cookware made in France." Says the assistant. Well, pay the silly prices if you want to name drop or are happy to waste money. As a longtime user of enamelled cast iron ( my Tesco pot lasted nearly 20'years) most of these pots have similar properties and what I look for is a good thickness of cast iron, smooth casting with a quality, attractive porcelain enamel finish and a user friendly design. This product has all of these in spades. So whats not to like? Very little, enamelled cast iron pots are wonderful for stove top cooking of soups, stews, pot roasts and curries. You have fantastic heat distribution and retention and can cook long and slow, retaining and developing all the lovely flavours that go with this kind of cooking with less risk of burning. You can cook on all stove tops gas, hot plates, halogen rings, ceramic hobs, induction hobs, Agas and even wood burners but not fire. You can put this one in the oven and the amended instruction leaflet says so ( beware though your shiny knob might burnish into all colours of the rainbow). Why anyone would want to strain their oven shelves and their backs heaving these bad boys in and out of the oven perplexes me, I would use heat resistant ceramics or Pyrex. Far easier. So the negatives... Very heavy, dont buy this product if you are frail with weak hands or with wrists liable to give out. If you drop this pot it will break and leave a crater in your floor, if you knock it badly, it will chip. If the pot is full and hot and you drop it you multiply all the problems. This is not really oven to tableware. Invest in a good rubber trivet for your worktop. Porcelain enamel inside all these pots will stain overtime and darken to muddy brown., yes even Le Creuset. Some people think this is all part of the charm of a trusty old kitchen friend like an ancient roasting tin blackened from years of use. I dont. If you get an internal chip inside the pot, you may notice a slight metallic taste from the interaction of the iron with the food. Time to replace as I have done. This is a good pot to go for, look no further, pay no more.

My absolute favourite
I bought this as a gift after using my one for years now, really good quality at a fraction of the price of the big name brands. Would definitely recommend

As good as any at twice the price. Excellent value.
This VonShef 4.5 l Enamel coated Cast iron casserole sold by DOMU UK is excellent value for money. I received it only yesterday and have already used it. Excellent heat retention: I was able to turn the hob right down to #1 and it did I an excellent job of gently braising my dish (actually cheaper than heating the whole oven) and the dimpled, well-fitting lid retains all the moisture in the dish. It looks good and cleans easily too. The information on the website says that it's suitable for ALL types of heat sources, as one expects from a proper cast iron dish, whereas the insert in the parcel says it's not suitable for oven use or shallow frying, which is very unusual. This could put some people off since most casserole recipes start with some amount of shallow frying and are often finished slowly in the oven. However, I have used cast iron casseroles before and trusting, the website description, I proceeded to use it as I normally do with excellent results. Good product, I would definitely recommend it.

Brilliant dish for a brilliant price.
In LOVE with this Casserole dish.I have cooked many meals in this since I bought it and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I've always dreamed of a Le Creuset pot, but it's a bit too pricey. After reading the reviews on this, I decided to buy the VonShef and I am happy I did!It can hold a lot of food, and can go in the oven too, cutting down on the washing up.Only gave it 4 stars because it is quite heavy, but other than that, I highly recommend it!

Good heavy quality
Got this as couldn’t justify getting an expensive one like a friend. This one does exactly the same job at a quarter the price. Very satisfied

A beautiful pot
I am writing this review as I felt this pot warranted a review. This pot was a replacement for a much loved pot that I had been using for years. When you get a replacement for something you have been using for years it's hard to think you will love it as much or it will take a long time to get used to it. But this pot is absolutely perfect. My pot arrived extremely well bubble wrapped and safe and sound. It's slightly bigger than my last pot which is not a bad thing. I make a lot of curries and sauces and they have turned out fantastic. The best thing of all so far is that no stains have attached to it yet which is better than my last pot as when making pasta sauce the tomatoes would always stain my pot. Anyway, it's at a great price point and I personally am delighted I got this as I cannot afford the French version and don't feel that I would ever need to now.

excellent alterantive to overpriced creuset
I was in the market for a Creuset alternative. As a metallurgist, I could not get may head around Creuset prices for an enamelled cast iron pot. This is excellent quality cooks evenly in the oven and on the hob. Good enamelling. Looks beautiful. Not had long enough use to comment on long term durability.Only issue is that the knob lid unfastens regularlyand this is something that should be resolved by the manufacterer with a couple of thin washers to maintain tightness. The last thing you want is the a red hot heavy lid falling on your shins.Otherwise another great quality product from Von Chef well worth the money.

Volvería a comprar otra

Ottimo prodotto
Una pentola magnifica, la utilizzo principalmente per la cottura del pane, ma un paio di volte anche per la cottura di secondi di carne.Il prezzo potrebbe sembrare un po’ caro, ma a mio avviso i soldi spesi li vale tutti
