Does just what it should!
I use a laptop based system for party music and karaoke nights. I had been using the laptop's 3.5mm earphone socket and conventional cables to connect to my amplifier but felt I wasn't getting the best sound quality. I bought this unit, simply to connect the laptop to my amplifier via USB. When I first connected the device, the laptop found and installed the hardware and it worked but with one significant problem, volume much too low. As I was working at the time, I quickly reconnected my old cables and carried on as before. The following day I reconnected the device and went into the 'sound' section of 'control panel' (running 'Windows XP' SP3)I quickly found that the properties assigned to USB sound were 'volume' at about 10%. I adjusted this to 100%, clicked 'Apply' and all was well! The sound quality is definitely better and the volume is up about 20% on the original connection method. I can't comment regarding the other capabilities of the device but it works very well for me.

OK, but audio output level far, far too high
The product seems OK - I like the fact it is powered from the USB without the need for separate power supply. However I experienced the opposite problem to some other people - the audio level is far, far too loud. For average 12" album I need to set the windows mixer level for this source to only 2 out of 100. My worry is when I want to record a louder vinyl (eg 12" single") then I will not be able to reduce the input sensitivity enough, so I will get clipping and distortion. This too-high level issue was obvious to me because I was recording in a "visual" editor (Adobe Audition). Perhaps if you were using a non-visual recorder you might be oblivious of the clipping (if you cannot hear the distortion - which is possible at low and moderate clipping).I contacted Numark customer support about it and they said"Unfortunately we do not have a specific device to resolve this problem. However, if you were to run through a mixer before going into the inputs of the DJIO, you would have more control over the input volume."I don't think this is a good solution - it would reduce the signal to noise ratio on a source (phono) that already has very low level. It would be much better if you could control (reduce) the audio output from the device.

Quick delivery, easy install
So, I ordered this on Monday (24/09/2012) and I got it today, Thursday (27/09/2012). The delivery time satisfied me, especially because the estimated time was Thursday next week. Anyway, so the package was all right, nothing broken or missing. It was easy to install on Win 7 - all I had to do is plug it in. I finally made it work as a secondary output channel - I use ASIO4ALL and I had to enable it from ASIO so that Traktor (the DJing software I use) sees it. After that, it was a piece of cake. Too bad my mixer is crap. But that's because when I brought it here by airplane, those guys at the airport threw it around like a ball and it probably got something loose. Anyways, so far, I am very satisfied with this purchase: +1 for Amazon and 5 stars for Numark !

Device works as advertised, BUT.,.... Software is out of date. Their EZ tape/vinyl converter instructions are geared to Windows7 or earlier, but more importantly the program doesn't run even in legacy mode as it claims I-tunes isn't installed. I run I-tunes version 12.7 but this isn't recognised - it wants version 10. A pity, it's a good device but this lets it down if you were hoping to use their supplied package.

Excellent - worth a look
This is a nice simple sound card for capturing audio input from records or cds or whatever. Then clear low latency output to connect to a mixer or amp. After seeing a review I bought two of these so I could use them with CDJs & Time-Coded Cds that I have mapped to Virtual DJ. Excellent they worked perfectly. No drivers need with Windows (I am using Windows 8) and USB powered. Very good sound quality. There is a volume control knob but even on max the output sound could be a couple db louder going in to a mixer. However I am very happy. This is good for anyone needing a cheap sound card for djing or home recording.

Great Value
One of the stereo outputs on my laptop headphone socket packed up so I was only getting 1 channel. I bought this item rather than take my laptop apart. It arrived in 2 days, very well packaged. I plugged it into my home stereo and it worked straight out of the box. The sound quality is better than out of the headphone socket too.

Still annoyed with Numark for not upgrading the drivers for the previous version to my version of MacOS, but still went for this as it seem to best fit my needs and the new one is Plug-n-play which should avoid these hassles. Only used while DJing a couple of times, but happy so far as smooth setup and no problems. Not sure about the styling, but is more compact than the previous version and actually feels better built too.

Better sound quality than your built-in sound card
This device acts as an external soundcard for your laptop, use it instead of connecting to the built-in headphone socket.I use this to play music from a DJ program, and connect it into a mixer,The improvement in sound quality is HUGE, you can instantly tell that it's worth the money.Makes bass sound a lot deeper and more solid, makes high notes clear, and no distortion.

superb device
I use my laptop for final mixing and some light mastering. The on board sound is rubbish and I was looking for a decent simple external sound device that would allow me to connect with RCA leads to my system. For the price the sound quality is excellent.Recognised immediately once usb connected, and followed the simple advice on sound set up.If you want to connect a turntable to your laptop, use a laptop for home recording and need a soundcard, this might well fit the bill.

I bought this for use with a pioneer dj controller this before realising I didn't actually need it for my new setup. It works well enough, sound is clear - so much so I'll keep it fit future use.

Very good value for money
Very good value for money, the DAC is spot on as the sound you put in is the same as what you get out (No lossy conversion or muddy sound), and at 48Khz it does not disappoint. There's no audible noise on the input with properly grounded audio equipment, and works well with professional audio gear.

Good quality for good price
I had previously bought another soundcard for similar price and there was an annoying hum and low quality. I bought this as I have a need to record DJ sets. This has fit the bill nicely, good quality levels, no odd noises or feedback. Very happy with the product and it was dispatched nice and quick.
