Celestron 21039 PowerSeeker 50AZ Refractor Telescope, Black

This is an impressive beginner telescope that is a very reasonable price. The telescope is very light and easy to assemble, a decent amount of accessories are included - 3 eyepieces and 2 viewing attachment tubes (Erecting eyepiece and 3x Barlow tube). I've only had the opportunity to use the telescope for its intended moon viewing a handful of times in the months I've had it due to clouds 🙄 thanks, UK... But on the Times I've used it I've been blown away by the details I can see on the moon and for the odd bird viewing from my bedroom when they're on the neighbour's chimney. I've also bought a generic phone adapter for the scope which has allowed me to get some half decent pictures which was just under £5 on eBay. It works great despite making my telescope sag under the extra weight but I adjust the legs to compensate for the rise in the telescope which isn't too difficult and fairly stable. The downside I have found to the cheap scope is that when there's extra weight with my phone adapter or wind, it can wobble a fair bit, not the tripod but the part that connects the scope to the tripod isn't as sturdy as you'd hope. This wobble is also noticeable when using the higher zoom eyepieces as even the slightest breeze with have the view subject bouncing all over the place. With all of that being said, on the days without wind and clouds you'll definitely be impressed with the price and the image quality you get with this refractor scope 👌🏻

I got this for my daughter for christmas. I've had to try it out beforehand so that we are both lost when she opens it on xmas day. I got it as it was an established brand despite some of the cheaper/same price ones being better spec'ced as I wanted peace of mind. It's well made abeit very light. You really do need to read the instructions, as the lenses so not all go on the same way. Some can't/don't use the L-shaped adaptor.. The images seemed ok, but I never got to try it at night. It has a finderscope which was on my shopping list so she could focus better. It screws on each time you use it and I'm unsure if I'll have to adjust it each time; I think I may have to. It's pretty damn tricky to adjust as you need to line it upto the near image in the telescope before you look further away, but it is possible. My main gripe is the tripod and adjustment mechanism. As it's light, it wobbles a bit which makes adjustment up and down/left and right a pain as you have to move it a bit this way and that to get it just right. The further the item is, the harder it is to adjust. But saying that, this isn't a hobby for the impatient. If she likes this, then in the near future I think we will buy one with a better mount.

Very impressed with this telescope, I'm not expert and merely a beginner with astronomy but it gives good enough views for me and it seems well finished. I particularly like the AZ mount for its simplicity and the slow motion declination rod. I am fully aware that this is not a "high end" piece of equipment however I feel that it is a perfect starter scope for me and worth the money.

Cant believe celestron sell this stuff, its a shame really, i bought this back in 2022 and it just isnt great, the mount will shift if you look at it funny or breathe on it making whatever is in view go out of view... the finder scope is very fiddly and impossible to allign, even for a seasoned astronomer like me and my brother, if you are giving this to a kid forget it!! its made of plastic entirely and the whole construction is cheap and really hard to use do yourself a favour and just at this pricepoint get yourself a mini tabletop dobsonian style telescope from skywatcher or pay a bit more money and get atleast a celestron astromaster series or celestron inspire with a red dot finder and i promise you it will be worth it, this is a really not good telescope to start out with you will have a nightmare its a hobby killer just dont buy it!! pay a bit more and you will have alot more enjoyable experience or even just get binoculars even using your eyes to look up will be more enjoyable

Seems pretty good. Never used a telescope before. Bought this for my 4 year old mainly look at the moon. Used my mobile to take a pic with the standard lens. But fiddly to find things as the finder scope and telescope probably need to be better aligned (setup issue). Can a 4 year old set this up? No. Can a 4 year old find anything with this? No. Can a 4 year old look through the eye piece? Yes! Would Sir Patrick Moore have liked this telescope? Probably not. Was it worth £50? Yes totally!!

Well.. I'm gonna try and warn you but your not going to listen either way, but at least I'll try.. This became confetti after a few days for me, I mean smithereens confetti... The Barlow lens is not as expected as it can only magnify each lens by 3.. but nothing times by nothing is still nothing... you can literally see the same on this maxed out as you'll see on a £ 10 monocular.. it's so light weight I advise not to use it outside on the tripod, it'll keep falling over, you'll spend 5 minutes putting it together if you know what your doing.. you'll think you can see uranus, yet you'll barely see the moon.. and when you do eventually get to correct it to the point you can see the moon like I did last night, you'll realise you need a moon filter and a punchbag, followed by the next morning waking up and realising you've wasted your money to turn it into a football. your choice though

Gave this telescope to my grandson as a gift. He really likes it. Good quality.

I was disappointed at first, after viewing terrestrial objects (looks blurry). I was looking at an antenna on top of mountain and it looked really bad. Not clear at all. But decided to look at the moon before returning it. The moon looks amazing! I can see the craters! Just go on internet and look for a moon phase calendar website to see when moon will be rising (in my city, moon rose 20 min after moon rise time because there's mountains). I don't use finderscope because for one thing, it's hard to calibrate it for it to be accurate. When I want to see the moon, I just point telescope towards moon by getting behind telescope, looking up the tube and pointing it at moon. It's tricky to focus without GEM (German Equatorial Mount) but for someone looking for an inexpensive telescope for basic moon viewing, this Celestron PowerSeeker 50AZ Telescope is perfect. Nothing fancy but better than say, a $30 telescope they sell at certain grocery stores in my opinion. The moon looks good at night only, I looked at it in the daytime and it didn't look good. This telescope is not good for terrestrial, or daytime viewing. It's September, the end of Summer 2022. Here in California, there's a bright star that appears in the eastern horizon 2 hours after sunset. It's Jupiter. There's 4 small stars surrounding it, those are 4 of Jupiters moons. After reading that you can see Jupiter and it's moons right now with a small telescope, I tried it and found it to be true! People that leave bad reviews for this telescope, most likely don't know how to use it properly.

Why can’ti see anything

Got this one some time back. Good packing. Good delivery. Nothing to complain about. My long time dream to view the planets and moon closer. Initially ordered <Celestron Firstscope>. Cancelled it after seeing this 21044 Power Seeker 76AZ. Love it. Amazing view of moon and its craters. Was able to see and identify Jupiter and its moons.(Jupiter moon lookes like stars seen of naked eye). Saturn with its rings. (It was tiny though). Venus like small crescent moon. Mars was on other side of the sun. Waiting for it to come into visible path. Whatever u invest, it will never be enough and satisfying when it comes to astronomy. But this telescope does a good job @ its price range. Worth it.
