Sodium Thiosulphate reacts with the chlorine in chlorinated water/tap water neutralising it, making the water safe. Standard tap water usually has a chlorine content of around 3-4 ppm chlorine, this level can be toxic to pond or aquarium fish, so treatment of tap water is always essentail before replacing pond or aquarium water. For dechlorination of 10 litres of standard tap water at 4ppm chlorine content, between 0.1g and 0.2g of Sodium Thiosulphate is required.Sodium Thiosulphate is also used by photographers as a photographic fixer. It has a high affinity to soft metals and a solution can be used to dissolve photographic emulsions. It has also been used as a treatment for cyanide posioning, during the tanning process of leather, as a supercooled solution experiment (similar to sodium acetate) and was also used for gold extraction. Directions For dechlorination, dissolve 0.1g to 0.2g of sodium thiosulfate in 10 liters of tap water with 4ppm chlorine. ## Features - Sodium Thiosulphate 99% Pure Crystals - Dechlorinate Water for Swimming Pools & Aquariums - Photographic Processing - is used during the photo developing process - Sodium Thiosulphate has also been used to treat Cyanide poisoning ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B007DG6120 | | Benefits | Kills Bacteria, For low-odor sanitization, Prevents Stains | | Best Sellers Rank | 30,981 in Garden ( See Top 100 in Garden ) 166 in Water Garden & Pond Treatment | | Brand Name | Intralabs | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars (245) | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00610373816759 | | Item Form | Powder | | Item Weight | 500 Grams | | Number of Items | 1 | | UPC | 610373816759 | | Unit Count | 500.0 gram | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Intralabs - **Item form:** Powder - **Item weight:** 500 Grams - **Product benefits:** Kills Bacteria, For low-odor sanitization, Prevents Stains - **UPC:** 610373816759 ## Images ![Sodium Thiosulphate 500g - Aquarium Dechlorinator Photographic Processing - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61rCDK5Cu+L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is this the one that's safe to take for heavy metal detox?** A: Tony Pantalleresco said that this grade of sodium thiosulphate is fine to take internally. I've been taking it internally as per Tony's instructions for a couple of weeks now and have been getting on great with it. I really do think he is on to something here. **Q: can sodium thiosulpfate be used instead of shop bought water conditioners to remove any chlorine and chloramine in my tap water any help appreciated** A: It will deal with chlorine but does no affect chloramine from what I understand. **Q: How much do i need for a 800L hot tub** A: I had to apply it as a solid to deal with discoloured silicone. Cannot see how this applies to a full hot tub. **Q: I used HG mould remover on silicone round bath. It only stays white for few days. Will this product remove brown stain?** A: Sodium Thiosulphate - 500g: I purchased this to remove chlorine from tap water and other elements before using it for my tropical fish. However in a more concentrated form it should work and remove your stain - would strongly suggest small area as trial - leave for 48 hrs and then make sure it washes off clean - if not increase concentration - if still fails - find alternative like Washing Soda. ## Frequently Bought Together - Intralabs Sodium Thiosulphate 500g - Aquarium Dechlorinator Photographic Processing - Clearwater Hot Tub, Pool and Spa Test Strips x 50-3 in 1 - Measures Chlorine, PH and Total Alkalinity - Clearwater Water Clarifier for Hot tub Spa and Swimming Water Treatment for Pristine Crystal Clear Water, 1 Litre --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ie/products/48333673-sodium-thiosulphate-500g-aquarium-dechlorinator-photographic-processing](https://www.desertcart.ie/products/48333673-sodium-thiosulphate-500g-aquarium-dechlorinator-photographic-processing) --- *Product available on Desertcart Ireland* *Store origin: IE* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
