Great for any amateur photographer.
Took a while to arrive but I used it on the very it did so. It was a windy day and because of it's size was vulnerable to being blown over. It gives a good spread of light and is simple to carry and erect. The material is adequate for the amateur photographer but is definitely of a lesser quality than an umbrella I purchased through 7dayshop, but because of it's portability, usefulness and cost I have given it 5 stars. Update: I have used this softbox several times now and it's limitations of this style of softbox is that you cannot tilt them and this one is no exception. That said, it does give good soft light but I have come back to say that it blew over (they are susceptible to breezes etc) and the shaft has buckled and bent thus rendering the the product useless!. On inspection it is because the shaft is hollow and only made of a soft metal and very vulnerable. I liked the portability of this product but my replacement will be the Godox http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Octagon-Umbrella-Reflector-Speedlight/dp/B0105U0R0W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1451262748&sr=8-2&keywords=godox+softbox and before I use it I will look to see if I can re-inforce the hollow shaft in advance of using it.

Things to consider before buying.
This octabox is fantastic value for money, it's easy to set up and pack away, doen't take up much space when packed up, it's lightweight and seems to be built reasonably well (though I've only had mine for a few months). However, there are a couple of important limitations to note before buying one of these: - 1 - due to the design where the stand passes through the inside of the octabox it is not possible to aim the unit down by anything more than a very acute angle, if you have a boom stand or if you don't ever intend on aiming the unit downwards this may not be a problem 2 - best be able to remote control your light, otherwise you will have to pull open the diffusion panel to access your light to change it's settings every time you need to change your exposure, this was a real pain before I got my radio controller for my flash units! In the future I will probably buy a similar product which uses a Bowens mount for the light (and stand) at the rear, but I definitely don't regret buying this unit, still useful and very compact, excellent value for money! Side note; - I found that having my flash head about 5" away from the rear reflective surface gave me the most even coverage of light, moving the flash further out creates more of a hotspot in the middle.

Great speedlite softbox
Great softbox for the money. I have used it with my Canon EX 600RT. Excellent balance of light on the subject. Great for portraits and I have used it for some high speed sync shots. Great size and it folds to a small size.

An absolute bargain for non snobby photographers!
Just a great product, hasn't let me down yet. Ensure you have a stand with an umbrella hole, otherwise you need to buy a cheap, easily found device that will fit on any pole to place a speedlite on top. Important point- it is not designed for modelling lamps, you need a rotalux square or octagonal lightbox and a speedring for those.

Gute Ware für günstiges Geld
Gutes Material, leichte Montage, nur der Diffusor war nicht gleich so passend zu befestigen. Ist aber denke ich nur Übungssache. Ich bin auf jeden Fall zufrieden damit.

A must have for traveling shoots. Works well for protraiture in studio. Amazing value. You will not be dissappointed.
A must have if you are relying on off-camera flashes for your studio needs. Great direction of light. The diffuser fits well and casts a nice even soft light. For those who complain that this does not angle down enough - move the speedlite deeper into the octobox. If that isn't enough, use a boom to get the correct angle (to be honest, you should have a boom if you are using an octobox as a key light). Booms are available on Amazon for less than $30. This item is not heavy and will be fine on "inexpensive" booms. I use this heavily in my studio and at location shoots. I also use this occasionally with my X1600 strobes. If you use it with monolights do NOT use the modeling lamp as you will melt the frame and fabric. For the money, this is one of the best modifiers out there. Combine this with a Yongnou YN560-III, a YN560-TX and a white piece of cardboard as a reflector and you'll be able to create some very great images for around $130.00 total. Most octoboxes cost well over $130.00 by themselves.

Bang for buck - Can't go wrong
Great! Cheap and cheerful, works fantastic, diffuses light nicely. As others no doubt mentioned, doesn't tilt forward well, but I just put something under rear leg of your lightstand to tilt. For me, that's an acceptable trade off in terms of price vs functionality, up to you if you agree or not. Also, cover is just light enough to see and toggle speedlights on/off without removing it so that's a handy bonus.
