Easy to use and works well

We had a new dish installed last year on a longer pole due to tree growth blocking the signal. Since just before Xmas we kept losing the signal on all of the Freesat Sky channels. ie. Sky News, Sky Arts and Pick. We got a local professional in to re-align the dish but we still experienced breakup. I, therefore, bought this SSL meter for under £10m, and re-aligned the dish myself. The Sky and other channels all now work perfectly. The instructions aren't the clearest but there are plenty of good instruction videos on the web. Basically, you unscrew one of the connections out of the LNB and screw this into the RH connection on the meter. You then connect the LH side connector on the meter to the LNB using the short lead supplied with the meter. Turn the knob on the meter fully to the right and adjust your dish until you get the maximum signal on the meter. Turn the knob to the left until the meter shows about 5 and adjust your dish again until you get the maximum signal. When I was doing mine my wife was in the living with the TV on and I was in contact with her by WhatsApp video on our respective phones- saved a lot of running about.

I actually thought moving coil meters were a thing of the (my) past. But it works ok and is truly analogue so it is possible to optimise the dish while looking at the meter. The tone was less useful to me but seemed to work too. I assume you can tweak the gain down just to the point where the tone is coming and going in situations where you can't see the meter.

Connected to dish and cable to fine tune satellite signal..worked really well and I could tell when the signal was at its highest point so tightened up the screws on the dish and retuned the receiver to get strong signal .good bit of kit, well worth the price..

I bought this item, as we had some building work done and had to take our satellite dish down and put it elsewhere. Its easy enough to set up, but couldn't find the satellite? The only time the needle moved was when you turned the volume button up fully and the LNB was pointing at the floor at the time? Fortunately managed to locate it manually after some time, so tried the detector again, just too see if it would pick up the satellite, but to no avail? Unfortunately due to the building work taking a bit longer the return window had closed before I could use it and return it? Save your money

No problems with this unit. Setting up a new dish for Freesat. Found the satellite in a couple of minutes. Job done.
