this is not a fun off-roading game
It is important to know what you are buying here. This is not a racing game, this is not a fun off-roading game. This is a cozy Siberian logger simulation. You play an unnamed Russian roaming the Siberian wilderness, your job is to bring logs from point A to B. At your disposal are a number of Russian vehicles, some of them can carry wood others are used to support your other trucks. Again this is not a fast paced game, but the setting is beautiful, the trucks look fantastic, and there is something calming about slowly driving around in the wilderness. This is a good game to play to get away from the annoying headset kiddos on FPS games. I think the people who are not enjoying this game had no idea what they were getting into, I'll admit the game should not be called mudrunner, it is more like mudwalker. Get some vodka, a bag of semechki, play some nice music, and enjoy the game for what it is.

Making the PS4 Great Again Comrade
24 Hour Impression I am normally not inclined to write reviews but given how impressed I am with Mud Runner I need to spread the gospel. If you like to "wheel" this game is for you. Mud, rocks, sand, good physics, good graphics, cool but accurate vehicles...check. And as someone who has spent some time in rural Russia, I see many similarities. The developers must have spent a lot of time working on the different physics models for each vehicle and how different "add ons" to those vehicles affect vehicle performance. So far, I've completed all of the challenges with at least 2 or more stars and completed 3 maps in the single player format. While I was waiting for Mud Runner to arrive I noticed that some reviews commented on how the steering is slow to respond. I certainly understand how this is very different from almost every driving game out there and we have to keep in mind that these heavy vehicles are either hydraulically assisted steering or hydraulic steer only. They simply aren't designed to turn quickly. Turning wheels that are 35"-50" diameter with locked differentials takes a lot of force and steering isn't quick. It would take away from the realism if the wheels turned like a sports car on Need for Speed. Some of you likely know why the steering is slow but for those less experienced in this type of machinery, now you know. Also, I want to comment on how much I like the water dynamics in the gameplay. Streams will sweep you away! If you think that heavy fuel trailer will keep you chugging along in a straight line, think again when crossing swift currents. Think that winch will save your bacon anytime you get in a pinch...NOPE. The winch has limits as in real life both in pulling power and length. Want to hook up your truck loaded down with long logs to that dead tree? HA! No way. Find another spot or go through the pain of bringing in another heavy weight to help tow/winch you out. I haven't tried to use my wheel and pedal setup but I am curious to see how that works and the force feedback as you churn through swamps or hip deep mud. My wish list: 1. Keep expanding maps and adding new challenges; what about a Soviet era mobile ICBM RT-2pm TOPOL challenge where you need to traverse some nasty backcountry and setup the missile to launch? What about operating a convoy across the Lena Highway or other famously nasty routes? 2. I really like the "winch" features you incorporated into the gameplay. If possible, think about adding a snatch block for increased pulling power with a possible penalty of added time it takes to setup. I would also like to see the ability to use the front winch when you already have another vehicle in tow using "drive" for the rear winch. That may be difficult on consoles but likely not impossible. 3. Added weather effects...for instance, what about increased water flow during rain or even an occasional flash flood. This would open up new dynamics to the game. Lastly, hats off to the programmers and developers. You did a great job and I hope you continue to improve and expand this product. This is a definite KEEPER in my library of games. For those of you that are on the fence, I recommend you give this game a shot. It's well worth the release price of $39.99.

Perfect for what it is.
First off, let me just say that this game isn't for everyone. This is NOT a racing game. From what I can say, this is an offroading logging simulation. You drive Russian made trucks from point A to B. The thing is, if you love rugged offroading with super sized trucks, then this game is for you. Runs a smooth 60fps and rarely dips below. The graphics and setting are a nice treat. It's very atmospheric for a game set in central Russia. Overall it deserves 5 stars because although the genre is kind of niche, it delivers on those willing to buy this game.

Somewhat fun but gets boring fast
It’s a good start. The mechanics over this game are great. Driving through the mud and creeks is entertaining but this game is veeery slow. It’ll take 15 min to drive to the logs, endless mud the whole way. Then it’ll take another 15min to get to the lumber yard, at 2-4mph. This game is on the right track; it just needs more content, more purpose, and more diversity. $20 game as it is now.

Go four wheeling for real.
The disappointment in this game is that it is almost unplayable nothing like a four wheeling and being stuck in granny low everywhere you go. And then when your truck breaks down you’re stuck spending a half an hour to drive back to the shop. Play control is lacking the amount of mud is beyond the normal.

Fun, but needs some work. Wait for the price to drop some.
This game is entertaining, but not quite what I was hoping for. You just haul logs down muddy roads from the log station to the mill. Even after playing it for awhile, the controls seem a little clumsy. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it just needs a little refining and I would say that it isn't worth more than $20 or so. Update: After a few updates, this game has improved some. The camera views are better and an extra map has been added.

Very unique game
In the world of gaming, there are a few titles under the rug that are truly games worth playing. They don't get the spotlight for their lack of controversialness, and that is because to whatever imaginary world they are in they are truly great games and this is one of them. Purchased as a gift for a kid, but it turns out the dad loves it way more! The game offers challenging and enjoyable play to spur creative thinking and problem solving. I highly recommend for youth and for gaming adults!

Easily the worst game i ever played
Easily the worst game I ever played. Since well like ever. Bad camera dynamics, driving is slow as watching grass grow and basically pointless. Faster paced game similar to this would be a blast but it is just not well developed. One look inside the cockpit view while driving should about sum it up.
