I had psorias all over my body when in my final year at University back in the late 70s. A month or so ago, I suddenly developed guttate psoriasis.At University I found that Wrights Coal Tar soap was a massive help with my condition. Most non-steroid treatments were based on coal-tar in those days. Unfortunately, manufacturers have removed coal-tar from many products in recent years because of ludicrous fears about it being carcinogenic (even though the relevant EU bodies and the US FDA have confirmed that it is safe). So Wrights soap now only contains a "coal-tar fragrance".I had used Oilatum Emollient as a bath additive back in those days, and while looking to buy some now, I saw this product.I have only been using it for a few days but already I am quite impressed with how it leaves my skin feeling. I can definitely feel an increase in hydration and a reduction in itching for several hours.Before ordering it I read the detailed description, and directions, so it was no surprise to me that this is not indended to be used to clean your skin, but as a post-wash treatment for the skin while still in the shower. In that respect it is exactly the same as Oilatum Emollient, which can also be used in the shower - as a post wash treatment.I already use a mild sensitive skin shower-gel for washing, but I have just ordered some Oilatum soap bars to try.Currently my only reservation is that this product is quite expensive per tube and applying it freely to the skin by hand a tube might get used up very quickly - I am waiting to see how long a tube lasts me, and then I will weigh-up the benefits I feel against the likely cost of using this every day.(using a standard shower gel applied to the skin by hand, vs using sponge or shower puff, the "freehand" method usually results in finishing a bottle much more quickly as you tend to apply more).As noted by several reviewers, it does leave a caoting on the bath - as does E45 shower cream and similar products. I spray an after-shower cleaner on the bath immediately after showering, and clean the bath properly every day or two.I have not found that this makes the bath particularly slippery - certainly not in the way that adding baby oil to bathwater does, but it is definitely something to keep in mind.

For nearly £10 I would want this to last longer but then again I have a *lot* of very dry patches of eczema so it’s not really the products fault.That, however, is my only issue, I love this product I have chosen to subscribe and save every couple of months. It hasn’t really got a scent. I pair this shower gel with oilatum bath soak to take extra care in maintaining my skin all over. This gel in particular is very moisturising, gently rinsing it off as per the instructions is essential and I’m glad because it means I get the full benefits of the product and I don’t have to scrub at my already irritated dry arms and neck.My skin feels much more nourished using this gel and I am choosing to make this a personal part of my skincare routine. Alongside the bath soak (normal, not the oilatum plus)!

Need to use normal shower gel first, then apply Oilatum and pat dry, my doctor prescribed Hydramol shower gel which washes as well so no double wash required. Oilatum is an excellent product but too much time needed to shower and leaves floor very slippy.I think it's too expensive.

Amazing stuff. I have reptilian skin on my legs and forearms in the winter but this stuff leaves me beautifully soft and hydrated. My skin used to sting within a couple of minutes of getting out of the shower, and liberal applications of moisturiser weren't always enough. Now, after using this I don't even need the moisturiser. It's amazing. And their shampoo is fabulous, too. Instructions say to be careful as the shower floor may get slippy but I find that the gel is thick enough to cling to one's legs and doesn't rinse off like other in-shower moisturisers.

I love this gel. You use it in the shower but you don't wash with it. It's a thick emollient that soothes and moisturises dry sensitive skin. I put it on after washing and rinse lightly before getting out of the shower. The pain clinic recommend it as I had a medical problem where my skin was painful and would split and bleed. It works so well that I don't need to see the consultant anymore. It's difficult to find in the shops so I buy it from amazon in bulk incase they stop selling it.

The write up for this product should state that it is an after shower gel, applied in the shower. I have used several oilatum products for many years all of which have provided good results.
