Is the Smokey Joe barbecue waterproof? Will it rust if left outdoors?

Weber grills are made to stand up to the elements. With some maintenance there is no reason why they cant be left out.

What's the difference between the "compact" and the "gourmet" - specifically amazon lets you toggle gourmet bbq system, this may be the bbq kettle

The size of cooking area is what the difference is. As others have discovered the compact does have plenty of grille area.

Can anyone please advise what the silver dish is for underneath the BBQ.

It's to catch the ash from the bowl. Not the best design but it saves a mess under the BBQ
