Amazing first build!
This was a great guitar kit for a first time building a guitar. This was an amazing experience to build and was a very good kit to work with. The wood that the body is made out of is made out of maple and mahogany and is a beautiful design. The body is cut very well and many of the holes that are needed are pre-drilled. This makes the guitar easy to work with. The kit shipped very well and all of the parts are pretty good quality. The wood for the neck is very good as well. The fingerboard come already attached and the frets are all installed already. This makes the kit easier to work with and the whole experience better. This kit requires little to no prior woodworking experience. I would recommend sanding the wood to start with as that is what I did, but that is definitely not required. The guitar kit itself does not include materials to add a finish to the guitar, but those materials can be found at craft and hardware stores. The kit does come with instructions, which are pretty good. The actual assembly instructions are a brief overview, but the company that manufacturers the kits: The Fretwire, has video tutorials online to offer additional help. This kid does not come wired, so some soldering is required. There isn't that much soldering that is has to be done, as some of it has been done, but a few connection wires need to be soldered. The wiring instructions are pretty detailed and are very helpful.I had an absolute blast building the guitar and the parts are extremely well-fitting. This is a great product for anyone looking to start building guitars. Here is a picture of the finished product that I made. It uses the parts that come in the kit and painting materials that I got from my local craft store. This was a lot of fun and the instrument sounds amazing!

Great Starting Place For Building a Guitar.
I bought this kit with very little knowledge of how guitars and I must say it has been a facinating experience being able to put one together.I bought this kit with the intentions of replacing most of the chinese hardware with better quality ones.I won't be able to say how good the pickups, bridge, and nut sound but I'll give my thoughts on everything I can.Body/Neck/FretboardThe body I received was made from two solid mahogany blocks with about a 1/16 thick flamed maple veneer. The guitar also has a white binding around the top of the body that is quite hard to see in the photos. The grain on the mahogany was nothing special but the flamed maple top was quite stunning, the stripes from the grain were on the top and bottom of the body which allowed for a near invisible seam in the middle of the body. The neck felt quite well made and it fit very tightly into the neck pocket. The frets were a quite rough on the edges and will need some sanding where it meets the neck binding as well as some leveling. The fretboard will need work as it is very dry and rough, although the cut around the inlays in the fretboard on mine were absolutely spot on.Cut-outs/routingEverything that was routed was done very accurately and everything fit as it was supposed to.All of the cut-outs and spacing seem to be accurate to the standard too, I replaced the tuners, pickups, bridge, and tailpiece all without any modifications. The only thing I would say is that the guitar I received didn't have the holes for anything other than the pickups, bridge and tail, and tuners. (despite showing them in the photo)This really didn't bother me at all since it allowed me to place things like the strap buttons where I wanted them. But people who are not good at drilling might want to be warry as every screw needs a hole pre drilled for it.Hardware:Mostly standard chinese fair here. The bridge seemed functional but was about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch thinner than a standard tune o matic bridge.Pickups were covered in some sort of white grime.Tail piece would not be usable without modification as mine had two fused holes where the strings go through.Volume and tone pots seemed good. Both turn nicely and were free of defects. The nut is made of plastic and, upon further inspection after removing it, the nut is also hollow. (strongly recommend a bone nut replacement here)Overall I would only recommend this kit as a great starting place for building a guitar. The cheap hardware in this guitar is going to hold it back from sounding good at all. There is some perfectly usable wood here but you are going to need to spend a bit extra on some better parts if you want anything close to a quality instrument. But if you are looking to better understand guitars and get into servicing your own guitars I absolutely recommend this kit. Just know that it is not for the faint of heart. You will need to do finishing, sanding, drilling, scroll sawing (headstock), and quite a bit of soldering...All without instructions. Youtube is your friend. Here is a list of the parts I replaced if anyone is curious as to what works.Bridge- replaced with Gotoh bridge. Spacing was the same but the studs were smaller. Used original studs as they fit just fine.Tailpiece- Same issue and solution as above.Nut- Bone nut from ebay made for standard Les Pauls.Tuners- Grover rotomatics. Fit right in with no problems.Pickups- Dimarzio pickups in both the bridge and neck.Plastic pickup casing that come with the guitar kit are cream colored so if considering this option you will need to buy black ones.

Excellent Kit
My first build and I did a lot of research and ended up ordering this one. Everything was great, good quality body, no super-thin veneer or anything, took to stain and sanding great, neck fit perfectly, frets needed some filing on the edges but not too much. Originally installed the stock hum bucker and it sounded pretty good! switched it out for a TV Jones Classic Plus and that added the heat! Stock wrap around bridge is great, intonation was set easily, added the trapeze tail and so far Im going with the stock tuners. Was a little intimidated by the wiring but search for the right videos and you'll find soldering is really not that hard its just knowing what goes where. Made my own pick guard for it and thats about it! Highly recommend this kit!
