Sufficiently accurate for general use

Good price-to-quality ratio; full metal construction and etched markings so should last more than a few uses. Quality is not really comparable to the more expensive tools out there (say the £25 Draper gauges) and it does have a somewhat unfinished feel to it; sharpish edges, noticeable grinder markings but none of that will cause injury or affect the tools ability to give accurate measurements. I got what I expected, so 5/5!

Needed to measure the dimensions of a rudder stock and tube to have some new parts fabricated. I was nervous at buying this given some of the reviews, but it worked & did the job and at the price I'm happy. The finish is OK with none of the issues in the one star reviews, action is smooth, the readings appear to be accurate across the jaws - i.e. I don't get different readings depending which bit of the jaw is used. The storage box is not the most robust but is handy. The 1 star reviews must have received a very different caliper.

I had initially gone to B&Q to get a caliper, figuring I would have many to choose from. Imagine my disappointment when it turned out not only they don't sell calipers, most of the employees didn't even know what a caliper was! So I got this one, it's very good quality and it comes in a hard plastic case, so you don't risk damaging it by putting it in your toolbag with all your other tools knocking about. Would definitely buy again.

For £9.88 this is actually a decent caliper. I chose not to but a digital one for the simple reason that it's just something to go wrong, it needs bateries and the digital part is usually made of plastic. This is all steel and comes in a lightweight plastic box with 2 thin foam inserts for protection. It's reasonably sturdy and versatile with depth, step, internal and external measuring. While you can't be too picky about a tool at this price my one gripe would be that the graduations on both sides of the shaft had been etched slightly out of alignment. Along the length of this particular caliper it won't make a huge difference to accuracy but it does look a bit cheap also the finishing on the edges is a little rough here and there but nothing major. Conclusion: worth the price but definitely not for those who like surgical quality in such tools.

Does the job nicely, and seems fairly accurate. The slide is is dire need of oiling (listen to the scraping sound in the video...ugh), but that's not a big deal. The case it comes in got damaged in transit, it's rather cheap brittle plastic. But then, the whole thing costs less than £9, so I can hardly complain!

I have to adjust motor brakes on cranes daily and I use these to do the job. They work absolutely fine. I do have a better quality set but they cost a lot more money. If I lost both sets I would replace them with this set as for the price they are perfect. Also not to long for my smallish harness mounted tool bag
